"Woah, woah hold on there." Sam had his hands few inches from Spike's chest.

"Listen, I know you probably want to beat him up, but he's the new kid. He doesn't know his own lane."

"Um, actually I-" I said while getting interrupted by Sam hitting me on the arm.

He gave me a dirty look, which meant it was time for me to stop talking.

Spike calmed down and looked at me.

"If you ever step up again, No one is going to stop me from beating the hell out of you." He made sure I remembered that.

"Yes sir." I said with a big grin on my face. Who can take this guy seriously?

He walked away and didn't even acknowledge the girl with the dirty blonde hair who was looking at me the whole time.

"Dude, honestly you were dumb for standing up to Spike. He'll crush you into millions of pieces." He said chuckling.

Honestly I didn't care if he was a grade above me and double my height and weight. I don't know what's with me, but whenever I see something that's putting someone in harm, I have to step in. I can't control it.

"I don't care about that big gorilla. Someone has to stand up to him. He doesn't run this school, Sam."

Then we both realized. The girl with the dirty blonde hair was still there. Watching us. Maybe I can finally ask what her name was. I turn to her.

"Uh..Are you okay?" I said with kind of an awkward tone. Didn't really know what to say at the moment.

She looked where Spike threw her books and then looked back at us.

"Yeah, I'm fine but now that prick made all of my papers fly out of my folders and stuff. Now I'm going to be late." She had a strain look. I actually felt bad for her. She has to deal with that jerk as her boyfriend..or friend..or whatever he was.

"Well of course we're going going to help you, were not that mean." Sam said smiling.

The girl smiled and us three helped her pick up her papers. I decided to strike up some conversation with her or at least try.

"So..What's your name?" I said while picking up her history papers.

"Sam Stephen. Thought you already knew Ryan." he said laughing.

"Not you, dumb cow." I said laughing. Even the girl started laughing. The first time I ever made a girl laugh..well besides my mom.

"I'm Jessica Dane. People call me Jess for short." Jessica Dane. A name I'll probably never forget.

"I'm Ryan Jacobs..People call me Ryan for short." I said smiling. She laughed. She had the most amazing smile I've ever seen on a girl.

"Okay well that's all of it. Now the bell should ring any min-" Sam said as the bell rang.

Sam and I handed her papers. She put all her papers in her black bookbag.

"Okay well, it was nice meeting you fine gentlemen, but I gotta get going to class. See you guys around." she waved at us and with that Jess walked away. I hope I at least have a class with her tomorrow since our schedules change every day.

I turn back to Sam. He told me that we both have science together. Which was good since now I won't be partners with some really weird kid I barely know.

As we were walking to science I decided to interview him and asked him what he's been doing this past year.

"A lot of things. So far I traveled too many times I can't even count. I actually brought you something from Spain. I'll bring it tomorrow it's actually pretty cool. It's nice to see you again, even though I totally saved you from a beatdown." He said smiling.
