* John’s POV *
Have you ever felt like your world’s stopping right in front of you, like no matter how much you try to catch up with time, it doesn’t let you. Everything stopped; even the people around you were frozen to their stance. The only sound you can hear was your own heartbeat, jumping a million miles a minute. Your breathing quickens like you have been running the whole day, but in reality, you were just standing in the middle of a desert, like your feet was glued to the ground.
No matter how much you wanted to escape, it feels like your whole body was tied up with heavy chains of metal, not allowing you to move out.
And that’s how I feel right now. My hand having a mind of its own, slowly traveled up to where my heart lays. An excruciating pain suddenly arose, and you can’t even speak up to let everyone know that there’s something wrong with you.
Is this one of my dreams? Am I dreaming? Were the first two questions that popped in my mind, though, it felt all too real for it just to be a dream.
Maybe this was what a heart attack feels like. Suddenly, your world just stops and you can’t even do anything about it, not even to shout for help.
“John.” I didn’t even realize that the door had opened and Faith came in rushing the door, stopping as she sees me. “What? How? You knew?”
But her attention was abruptly snatched away from me as she wandered off the room and her eyes met a shocked Nurse Love, who seems like she felt the same way I did. Just standing there with her mouth wide open, and one hand sort of like covering her face, stepping away trying to escape but didn’t have the strength to do so. And it didn’t help that Faith had to come right this minute, complicating the issue even more.
“There are two of you.” Nurse Love uttered lowly while shaking her head. “I mean, three of us.”
Just then, Faith backed away from the two and about to head out. But Blade had stopped her. He saw me all quiet in one corner, before coming in between Bailey and the doctor, who I thought was Dr. Conley, but he wasn’t.
“Did it work?” Blade asked the doctor.
The man stepped towards Bailey who still hasn’t moved an inch since the first time she opened her eyes. “Miss Hope, we need you to confirm if your operation had worked. How many fingers am I holding up?”
But she didn’t say anything. She just sat there like she had no life, no emotions. Nothing.
“Hope, we need you to tell us.” Blade knelt in front of her. “Just nod yes or shake your head no.” However, Bailey/Hope still didn’t react, perhaps stuck on daydream mode.
Blade’s head dropped low for a second and then he wandered around the room, ending up in my gaze. I was about to ask if he was looking at me, but then another surprise came in.
A man fully covered in brown robe like a monk came in. He walked past me as he was removing the hoodie covering up his face.
“What are you wearing?” Blade chuckled, perhaps trying to lighten the situation. But Slade ignored him as he took off everything, revealing the casual clothes underneath.
This was like in my dream when he was dressed as a monk during an open mic night.
“Help us with Hope?” Blade uttered, pointing his head to Bailey’s emotionless body. Slade nodded and knelt beside Blade, trying to get her attention. But still didn’t work.
Nurse Love must have woken up from her stance as when she looked in my direction, a huge question mark popped in her head. “John….” She uttered, but more of confirming if it was really me. “What are you doing here? Serenity’s in the next room.”
