Ouranos was either created by Chaos or was the son of Gaia. Any which ways, he was very powerful. He had children with Gaia, these were called the cyclopes, the hundred handed ones and the Titans. He did not like the cyclopes and hundred handed ones and so he threw them into Tartarus (you will get to know about him in the next chapter). Gaia got angry with him for this and then convinced the Titans to kill him, which they did. When the Titans killed him, it is said that his golden blood (ichor, the blood of immortals) spilled onto many different parts of the Earth. On land, out of his blood appeared the first two humans, satyrs (half human and half goat/donkey) and other animals.
Roman equivalent: Uranus
