Chapter 3 Flashbacks Aren't Always Best

The Aberrant comes bounding down the street on all fours. I hate Aberrants so much because one killed my sister, Kiana. Thats why I quit the Survey Corps. We were both in the Special Operations Squad with Captain Levi on the 50th Expedition Outside the Walls. We were all riding in a star shape. Me, Levi, Kiana, Petra, and Odu. We had gotten stuck in the middle of a forest. Every one else had to go around the forest when suddenly, we heard loud stomping.

Survival instinct, a trait me and Kiana both developed from our parents, kicked in. I hear Gunther yell, " There's and aberrant on our tail," quite loudly. I take a look back and see one coming at high speeds. " Nothing we can't handle, right Levi," I hear Kiana say. Levi doesn't respond. I waited for a smart-alec response from him, but it never came.

Kiana and I look at each other with the look that tells me she is thinking what I'm thinking. I yell to Gunther to take my horse and Odu takes Kiana's and we get going through the trees. I go around to the back of the aberrant and zoom towards its neck. Then the worst experience of my life happens the aberrant suddenly stops, and grabs Kiana. I see her head poking out of his hand with the look of terror on her face. I'm so shocked I feel paralyzed and I fall to the floor. I quickly get back up, but I'm to late. The last word she said to me was " Let's do this, Braden, and hopefully don't do something stupid on the way." All my anger gets out of me. I zoom over, grapple to his neck, and kill the titan before it did any more harm to my squad.

I fly back to the squad with the look of sorrow on my face. " Wheres Kiana," Petra ask me when I get back on my horse.
