Phil has completely abandoned his phone when he left. He didn't want to talk to Dan, or anyone for that matter. He wasn't leaving Dan forever, he was going to come back eventually. He just didn't know how long it would take to wind down.
The first thing Phil did, after leaving the apartment he shared with Dan, he went to his mum's house. His mum was confused when he showed up on her doorstep, especially without notice... And without Dan.
Phil's parents had been totally supportive of his relationship with Dan, and they accepted him as if he was their own son. Phil told his parents that he just wanted some alone time, and he just needed a place to stay for a while.
Mr. and Mrs. Lester understood Phil, and left him alone. Phil walked to his room, and heard his phone ding. It was a text from Dan. He didn't bother answering it. He just turned the phone off completely and collapsed on his bed.
-next morning-
"Phil? Are you awake?" Dan says to no one. He immediately remembered how Phil left him. His expression changed to a frown as he walked in the lounge.
Dan saw a whole range of memories in this room. He saw himself when he was happy with Phil. Those happy memories now haunted him. Dan didn't know when Phil would be coming back, neither did Phil.
Questions swarmed Dan as he made his way to the kitchen to make a bowl of cereal. Did Phil still love him? Had Phil left him forever?
Dan remembered how he would always catch Phil eating his cereal. It caused him to smile ever so slightly. That smile didn't last very long. Dan threw the bowl on the floor, causing it to break into pieces, milk and soggy cereal all over the floor.
Dan slumped to the floor against the oven and started to cry. He needed Phil to be there to comfort him. But Phil was the reason he was crying right now.
Not only did Dan need to put the pieces of the bowl back together, but to put the pieces of his relationship back together. He need he had to do something. And calls and texts weren't enough.
Dan got up, leaving the broken glass on the white tiles of his kitchen floor, and left to the bathroom. He turned on the shower, letting the warmth steam up the room.
Dan looked in the mirror. He saw someone he never thought he'd be. A sad, frustrated, broken young man, with dark circles under his eyes.
He wished the warm shower water could wash away everything that had happened in the past day. He wished Phil was here with him. Phil was always on Dan's mind. More than ever now.
Dan needed comfort, happiness, love.
He needed Phil.
