Chapter 9

Harry's POV

"It's okay you don't-" I started to tell Alec but he cuts me off.

"No, I want to tell you I'm just trying to think where to start,this is a very complicated story..." He goes into thought again.

"Just start at the beginning I've got a couple of hours to kill anyway." I encourage him.

"Alright, just don't say anything until I'm done, okay?" I nod in agreement playfully locking my lips and throwing away the key.

"Well, Charlie and Lily started dating about four years ago so they were both in 10th grade. I'm three years older than Lily so I just started my first year of college at the time. They met in a study haul, I guess, and started hanging out. At the time one of my friends was best friends with Charlie's older brother and had met Charlie multiple times. He warned me about Charlie since I had mentioned to him that he and Lily were starting to become "close". He said that Charlie was a total cheater and could be violent. I was so freaking terrified when he told me and the next day I confronted Charlie. I told him to stay away from Lily and never come back. He smirked at me,and threatened to tell Lily my biggest, darkest secret and I had know idea how he knew. He black mailed me into not warning her and I was selfish enough to along with it. I couldn't risk her knowing...."

I stare at Alec with watchful eyes as he continues.

" Then he punched me right in the face and walked away. I regret that day every moment o my life; not protecting my little sister but myself instead. So they finally became an official couple a week later and I'd never seen Lily so happy. I knew eventually Charlie would break her heart, and that broke my heart. Over the next year or two I could tell he was cheating on her to sleep with other girls and it sickened me. Although, in the third year I actually thought he was falling for her since I didn't think he was hooking up and he looked.... happy; well, I was half right. One day Lily got suspicious and confronted him about cheating. Apparently he was so mad at her, he slapped her. She ran away in fear and came straight to my apartment. She had a huge bruise on her face the next day. I was afraid to tell her I knew about the cheating seeing she was in such a fragile state. Well a week later she got up the courage and went back to his flat to talk to him..... long story short she walked in on him and another girl. She was devastated to say the least."

My nostrils flare and fists clench using all my energy to not run down stairs and beat the shit out of this guy.

"He had been secretly seeing this girl for the past year and a half, which explains why he was so happy all the time. I just can't figure out why he wouldn't break up with Lily. Well anyway that happened about a week ago, which explains why she was at that bar yesterday night. She knows I knew about him cheating but she forgave me without a second thought, probably because I'm the only person she has right now. I don't deserve her understanding nature but that's Lily for ya." Alec finishes talking a deep breath.

At this point all I can muster to say without going into an angry frenzy is say,"Wow...".

"I know, I'm an asshole," Alec tells me.

"No, no, not you," I reassure him,"It just amazes me that a guy as lucky to date Lily would cheat on her...".
