As soon as Mr. Huff arrived, Narcissa instructed Draco to make an impression, a good one; so that's exactly what he did. Draco wasn't as charming as Micah Greengrass, but that didn't mean he didn't know his way with words.Draco was impressive, and he conversed with Mr. Huff, Mr. Greengrass, and Mr. Nott fluidly.
He even had them believe he was older than he actually was, and if Mr. Huff wasn't a man of professionalism he would have offered Draco an apprenticeship right then and there. But Mr. Huff knew how to play his cards, he loved his department and his work, but his expression of the department was in no way handled how Draco remembered Arthur Weasley did. Mr. Huff held the department in good condition after the war, troubles of course, but he was slowly managing."Dinner will be out soon Mr. Green." Mrs. Nick announced, and Mr. Greengrass nodded respectfully at the old woman before she retreated back into the kitchen.
Mr. Greengrass lead everyone in taking a seat, his place was at the front end of the long black marble table.
Mr. Huff sat at his right, his wife at his left. Narcissa placing herself next to Mr. Huff so she could face Mrs. Greengrass. Mr. Nott sat next to Mrs. Greengrass, and across from him sat Daphne, leaving Draco and Astoria sitting next to each other on left side of the table.Draco, instinctively pulled out Astoria's chair, learning to do so for his mother, so he only thought polite to do it in any woman's company. Her brows jumped, surprised but not willing to make a snarky comment that Draco knew was on the tip of her tongue.
Once everyone was seated, Mrs. Nick came back out to announce what was on the menu; a small three meal course. And as Mrs. Nick listed, Astoria leaned over in her chair to speak to Draco."You know, I didn't like you cause you were mean." She said, but Draco didn't turn her way even though he could clearly hear her.
"But now I don't like you because you're boring, and I can't tell which one is worse." Draco held his breath after she said this, contemplating whether or not to retaliate to the young girl, or bitter silence. Draco rolled his eyes, making the decision to turn to her with hard eyes, a shadow of an impish smirk threatening to appear.
"You're sister's mute, and you are not, but I can't tell which one is worse."
Astoria kept her mouth shut and stared into Draco's silver-blue eyes, trying to challenge him, to push each other's buttons. She was enjoying this, and he knew that, and to give her the satisfaction of seeing him get frustrated was not something Draco was going to allow. Because the satisfaction he got from her hidden frustration was enough for him.
"I hope you enjoy dinner and the sounds."
Astoria faced front just as a plate of salad was put before her, leaving Draco staring at the side of her face for a few moments.
