Lee stood in the doorframe, her wide brown eyes taking in my room. She always did this whenever she discovered something new about me. Taking it in like it was something she had never expected.
My room wasn't too surprising though. Gray walls, Twin bed, CD cases in piles everywhere that I had probably spent a good fraction of my life saving on.and a laptop computer on a desk in the corner
Lee finally walked into the room, picking up a CD cover, reading it, and putting it back down. "I like your room." She said.
"Do you want any water or anything?" I asked, not really knowing what to do. I had invited her inside to hang out (For the past couple days we just explored outside but today was boiling hot.) Now that we were here I didn't really know what to do.
"No." Lee said, and sat down in the middle of the room, looking around. "Why do you have so much music?"
I moved a stack of Indie CDs and sat across from her. "I really like music, I guess"
Lee smiled. "What kind?""I don't know. I like it all."
Lee set her chin on her fists. "But if you had to live in a world with only kind, which would you choose?"
"No music at all." I said. "If there's nothing to compare it to there's nothing."
"Brilliant." Lee said, her brown eyes had stopped darting around and landed on me.
Blushing, I decided to change the subject. "What about you?"
"Indie" She said immediately.
We talked awhile about music. Things just seemed to happen so naturally between Lee and I. There were pauses in conversation, and sure they were awkward, but not entirely. There was something else hanging in the awkwardness that I wanted to yank down and keep forever.
"What's that for?" Lee asked after the subject of music had gone stale.
"What?"
"The computer." She poked my nose, which I wasn't expecting.
"Oh." Suddenly I was blushing again. "I do some internet stuff."
Her eyes widened. "Are you famous?"
I laughed. "No, not really."
"Well, what do you do?" Lee said, leaning her head onto her hands.
"Just some blogging." I said. "It's not a lot."
"How many followers do you have?"
My cheeks were burning. "Not a lot."
"How many?" Lee said again.
I didn't like talking about my music blog. It was something I had started for fun a year ago. I never expected it to pick up any steam. Now whenever I told people, It was like they expected something from me."A couple thousand." I mumbled.
"I knew it!" She said throwing her hand into the air and then placing it on my knee. "That's so cool."
I giggled... I never giggle.
"Why so shy about it?" Lee asked, her hand was still on my knee, it was warm.
I shrugged. "I don't know, it's nerdy, it's weird."
Lee rolled her eyes. "No. It's really not. It's cool, and your cool." She kissed my nose, something I had NOT expected and my face was now red.
"You're so different." I said
Lee smiled. "Being normal is boring."
