N I A L L

09:55 PM

“I’m starving” I said leaning back on the chair and holding my stomach.

“You ate about an hour ago Niall, seriously?” Jackie asked amused lifting her eyebrows at me.

“It was just one cupcake, in which one you actually ate” I said smiling at her.

“I told you I won’t eat it” she frowned probably feeling bad about eating my cupcake not getting the hint of humor in my voice.

“I’m kidding” I leaned forwards placing both my hands on the table, “Don’t be silly, I didn’t mind you eating it. I’m sure you’re hungry too anyway” I got up on my feet pulling Jackie who was sitting cross legged opposite me, “Come on, I’m sure there’s subway somewhere in this vast airport”

Jackie stood fixing her oversized shirt, pulling down her leggings that crept above her ankles. As her and I both walked out of Gloria’s Jeans, I had a sense of courage and placed my arm around her shoulder pulling her close to my body. She wasn’t quite tall, so her head fell right against my chest; I smiled as the scent of her shampoo filled my nostrils.

She shyly sneaked her hand around my waist and smiled. I hope I’m making her feel secure between my arms.

I feel that if I did make that move I wouldn’t be rejected by her. She was so shy, and I loved it. And when she surprisingly placed her hand around my waist, I felt – as cliché as it sounds – on seventh heaven. I loved it, and her arms were so small. They fit like a puzzle together as we walked down the airport in search of subway.

We weren’t a couple, we weren’t serious, and we were really nothing. We just got to know each other in less than two hours and it felt like we’ve known each other for years. Jackie knew more about I knew about myself, but she allowed me to share whatever she knew without interrupting.

“There it is” I stopped and stood in front of subway. We both walked to the cashier and ordered each a sandwich. Of course me being Niall, I had to order a huge disgusting sandwich, while Jackie kept it simple.

“What is that?” I rolled my eyes at her seeing the small sandwich she occupied, “That’s gon’ fill your stomach?”

“I had a cupcake, I’m quite full” she smiled at me taking the plate; I pulled it away from her as we walked into a spot in the corner. “Is that Harry?” she asked squinting her eyes, seeing his wavy hair and a blonde sitting beside him, “And is that a girl with him?” she gaped at the couple sitting in the corner.

“Hey Harry” I shouted across the room, as Harry and the blonde both looked surprised looking at where the voice came from. I waved my hand at Harry. Jackie smiled at Harry then turned her head to look at her food embarrassed as an old couple looked annoyed at the loud noise I did.

“People are starting to stare Niall” she pulled my hand down, “shh”

“So what?” I rolled my eyes at her, “Who cares? Let them mind their own business”

“I do” she mumbled to herself.

“Why do you care about what others think?” I asked now concentrating on the brunette in front of me. She was so conservative, and I noticed how she always has her head down when passing by a mob of people when we were walking down the airport.

“Because people like to talk” she explained vaguely playing with the sandwich.

“People always have shit to talk about, I know that” I said out of experience. I was after all a famous pop star; people always had rumors flying about me.

“But it’s different for you. You have people who idolize you as well, people who like you” she fidgeted with her hands nervously.

“People like you too”

“You don’t know that” she argued with me, “Can we talk about something else please?” she dodged the subject.

“Jackie” I extended my hand on the table taking hers in between mine, “I like you, you’re an amazing person. Stop hiding from people” I played with her small fingers, “You’re perfect the way you are, as cliché as that sounds”

A blush crept on Jackie’s face as she tried hiding it behind the hair that fell around her face. She smiled adoringly at me thanking me with a nod. I pulled the hair behind her ears and started singing,

“You’re insecure, don’t know what for, you’re turning heads when you walk through the do-o-or” I sang in between laughs.

“Oh my god” she covered her face with her free hand as the other one I played with, “Don’t do that you cheesy weirdo”

“Baby you light up my world like nobody else, they way that you flip your hair-“ Jackie’s hand flung over and slapped me on my mouth playfully as I increased the volume of my voice.

“Okay, I get it, shush now”

I licked the palm of her hand playfully as she made a face and pulled it away, “Gross Niall”

“You’re so cute” I gushed at her loving how her face was starting to get red from how embarrassed she was.

“Eat your food and stop being so weird” she rolled her eyes playfully at me bringing the sandwich to her mouth and taking small bites. As much as I tried making her feel better to not give a shit about people’s thoughts, it wasn’t going to take one pep talk. She’s been getting the same lecture from her mother, telling her she’s beautiful and should stop being so shy around people. Open up to people. She was opening up to me slowly, but she was still a shy person. And one pep talk won’t change that.

“Hey” the blonde that was with Harry sat on the left side of the table, as Harry came along and sat on the right side of the table opposite the blonde.

“Hello there” Harry smiled at Jackie, “I don’t think we’ve met, Harry” he extended his hands to shake. Shakily Jackie took his hands and smiled.

“Jackie” she didn’t want to sound like a creep saying I know, who didn’t know Harry Styles after all?

“I’m Autumn” the blonde introduced herself while beaming at me and Jackie. She was hyper for sure. I noticed how Jackie warmed up to the girl from Hey.

“What are you cuties doing?” Autumn asked taking a sip of her drink she grabbed from their table.

“Eating” I said with a mouth full of food.

“Obviously” she rolled her eyes playfully, “We’re actually bored, Harry and I thought after you guys are done we can get back and meet the rest of the lads yeah? We can do something together. We’re stuck together after all” she planned.

“Yeah sure” I said smiling, wiping my mouth with the napkin in front of me, “That’s nice, Jackie you up for it?”

“Sure” she smiled at me. I couldn’t help but feel like hugging her close to me as she smiled with that shy look in her eyes. She was feeling uncomfortable and I noticed. I hope by the end of the night, she’ll be open to me and the rest of the lads.
