Standing up, Jackie left Niall alone staring at her shocked that she just left the circle abruptly without saying anything. She didn’t even acknowledge his presence when she got up.
What the hell?
Niall slipped while standing up hastily following behind Jackie, who was walking towards an empty bookshop.
“Where are you going?” Niall called loudly after her. She didn’t reply, she kept on walking. She hoped he would just disappear right now.
She lived her dream; she was a huge fan of One Direction. She met them. She was happy she met them. But what was the use? Of course they all would look at Autumn.
Jackie cursed herself for thinking otherwise. For thinking, Niall would even think she was a pretty person. People say what’s inside matters. Bullshit, that’s what Jackie thought of that.
They only will talk about you if you were famous or pretty.
He did kiss you, her inner voice reminded her. The butterflies erupted again in her stomach, as she held tight on her stomach whenever passing by people. She passed the lady sitting in behind the counter in the bookshop while looking at the floor. She by no doubt loved the kiss and would turn around right now and pull Niall into another kiss if she could.
But that’s not happening. That only happens in movies.
He probably was forced to kiss you anyway, so he wouldn’t be left out, the other side of her brain screamed.
Closing her eyes, she felt the tears stinging. She didn’t give a shit, she let them all out. Standing behind a shelf, far away from Niall, the librarian, the beautiful old couple, the twenty-seven tattoos lad and everyone else in the outer world who would judge her if she passes by them, she cried her eyes out.
“What’s wrong?” Niall whispered, appearing right in front of her. He did not understand why she ran away from him like that. What did he do? Did he do something wrong? Maybe she didn’t want him to kiss her. He mentally smacked himself for being so stupid and kissing a girl he barely knows.
“N-nothing” she sniffled not meeting his gaze.
“I’m sorry I kissed you” he blurted out hoping that would make everything feel better.
“You think I hated the kiss?” she looked up from the floor and smiled at him sadly, “That was the best first kiss I ever had” she said and looked away from him again.
She was embarrassed she blurted that out, but she wasn’t going to see him ever again. She will be another fan he passed by – and probably judged.
“F-first kiss?” Niall smiled to himself, glad that he was her first kiss.
She nodded in response.
“Why are you crying then?”
“It doesn’t matter”
“It does to me” Niall moved closer to her. If she looks up, their noses would touch definitely. But she dared not move.
“Why?”
“I care about you”
“You don’t even know me” she chuckled half-heartedly.
“True, but… I do care Jackie” he whispered for her to only hear. He was very aware of the librarian that was probably trying to eavesdrop by now.
“Why did you kiss me?”
“Because I wanted to Jackie” he rubbed her arm, “What’s wrong love?”
As cliché as it sounds, her stomach did a back flip. The monsters in her stomach might as well join the Olympics.
Jackie finally had the guts to look up at him. Her hazel eyes caught his blue eyes. She always loved the color of his eyes and wished she would once see them up close. They were even more beautiful than in the pictures that filled her phone.
“I’m just a fan” she mumbled, still clearly staring and getting lost in his orbs.
“So? Does it matter?” he asked his Irish accent evident.
Jackie sunk under his gaze.
“I’m not comfortable with people looking at me, l-look away” she stuttered and looked away.
She felt that whenever people looked at her, they were digging out flaws in her to speak about them between themselves behind her back. She hated being stared at. That’s why she always had her head down passing by people, hiding her not-model-flat stomach behind her arms.
She was damaged, Niall finally realized.
Niall moved both his hands against her arms, reaching her shoulder, “You’re so beautiful” he whispered hoping she would look at him and mesmerize him with her hazel colored eyes. He leaned down to the corner of her mouth that was curved in a frown. His lips slowly traced her wet cheeks, tasting the salt of her tears. He smiled against her cheeks as he felt the heat of her cheeks radiate through him.
“You are nothing like anyone I’ve seen before” he mumbled against her cheek. He sloppily moved to her lips, and finally kissed her plump lips passionately. This was nothing like the kiss they had just ten minutes ago. Oh no, this was something so different.
This was passionate.
It’s as if all fire let loose between them. She was the lamb, he was the brave lion. She was so different from him. He was social, and spoke to everyone. He made the conversations go on; he was the friendly one in the band. No one could ever feel bored around Niall Horan. He proved it even to her.
But then there she was the most anti-social person. Scared of people. Always hiding, feeling everyone is talking about her and judging her. Jackie Baker was never bullied, but she wasn’t known either. She had a handful of friends, the only people she felt comfortable around, including her family.
She was scared from everyone else. She could barely order food without having a panic attack, her palms sweating and her heart beating against her chest.
Right at this moment, this was no panic attack, but there she was, her palms sweating, and she could already hear her heart beats. If it was possible – it may be right now – her heart would go through her chest creating a massive hole from how fast it was beating, and the monsters that were dancing in her stomach are going to claw through her stomach any moment now.
Pulling away, Niall smiled causing Jackie to smile as well. Her plump lips were red, including his after such a passionate kiss. His cheeks flaming as red as her lips, and own cheeks. He pecked her on her lips again.
“You’re too self conscious” he said frowning. He held her by the waist; she wanted to push him away from her by now. She hated being touched in places she despised. But she allowed his touch. His hands went under her shirt and his cold fingers traced the warm skin on her waist. He left traces of fire wherever his fingers touched on her bare skin.
Passing his fingers on her stomach, he smiled, “You’re perfect just the way you are Jackie” he said the same thing while they were dinning together, “So perfect. You don’t have to be a thin stick to impress people, no one likes skin and bones love”
Jackie engulfed him in a tight hug, “I really love you so much”
“I love you too”
But he replied the same reply to every single fan he met.
