Everyone knows what happened on November 2, 1983, in the Winchester household. Mary Winchester was killed in a nursery fire, leaving her husband, John, and her two sons, Sam and Dean, without her.

But what if things had happened differently? 

What if, instead of Mary dying that night, John did?

Interesting concept, yes? I think so.

Extra things:

*This is an AU, obviously

*Plot is free range for you

*Just how would life be with the Winchesters if John was the one who bit the dust and not Mary? She gave up hunting, yes, but does this bring the hunter back out in her? Does she follow John's path in searching for the monster responsible for her husband's death?

*Being that Mary is the one who lives, this will most likely change a lot of things for Sam and Dean

*This seems like it will be a difficult  plot, as this is a huge AU idea, so I may be extra picky with who takes this
