"This party sucks already."

I scowl at Farkle, annoyed that he had to tag along with me and Maya since Lucas and Riley didn't want any third wheels.

He's just trying to ruin the mood.

And it was true. The party was actually pretty lit right now.

When we had arrived, Maya had to park a block away. There were so many cars already and the music was loud enough I could dance comfortably right beside our car.

But I was on a mission and Troy was not beside the car. He was in his house, hosting this party.

"It's amazing how no one calls the cops on him, he's so cool." Maya says as we finally reach the porch. My feet are regretting ever listening to Riley's prompting of wearing heels tonight.

Like any cliché party, the front lawn is littered with red plastic cups. I nod at Maya's remark, amazed at how out of control this whole thing was.

If I were to ever throw something like this, my parents would murder me and then bring me back to life just to kill me all over again.

"Yeah, whatever, it's lame." Farkle shrugs walking straight into the house without us. Not that I cared of course. I was, however, nervous.

The last time party I attended was last year at Maya's New Year's Bash.

Since she was born on New Year's Eve, her birthday party was mashed with the celebration of the coming year. And let me tell you, everyone came to Maya's parties. You'd be a fool not to.

Anyway, since it was already November, it meant that I haven't been to a high school party in 11 months! (Weddings and dad's work dinners do not count.)

What makes this even harder is that I'm here on a mission. To win over Troy.

"Hey, come on! I think I see Riley!" Maya exclaims, pulling me after her.

I apologize to everyone around us as we shove through the crowded living room, and step on countless toes.

"Maya, do we have to be moving at the speed of light? Because do even see the shit you guys shoved me into?!" I curse under my breath, nearly toppling over Maya when she comes to an abrupt stop.

"I can see it," a low voice hums, "perfectly fine."

Troy.

"Shoot! Man, I forgot my purse at the couch over in that room." Maya shakes her head, faking a clumsy expression.

I narrow my eyes at her when she turn to give me a wink. "You guys stay here. I'll be back."

And then it's just me and Troy and the ridiculously loud music.

"So," I begin stupidly, "Nice house you got here."

Really, Smackle?! That's your starter??

Troy chuckles, holding out his hand. I place mine in it shyly, and he leads us out of away from the noise.

I pray that my hand isn't sweaty like always, because I want mine to feel as good in his hand as his feels against my own.

After a few smart maneuvers through the hallway crowd, we finally make it to a small green room. Like an actual fucking garden house.

"This is incredible." I whisper.

Troy lets my hand go and walks to the center of the room spreads his arms, "This is my favorite room."
