"You're really not bothered by it?"
I nod at Riley, shrugging off her hug. I was annoyed at all her cooing and pestering. She was sweet, I loved her for being such a kind soul, but right now she was just too much.
"It was inevitable, Riley." My voice is robotic. Although I never actually thought an end to my relationship with Farkle would happen, deep down I knew.
Riley sits back in her seat on the couch, lips pressed to a thin line. Lucas rubbed her shoulder, probably mad at me for pushing his girlfriend away like that.
"Farkle and I were just not meant to be, ok?" I stand from the couch, pressing the heel of my hand to my temple. My head was beginning to hurt.
Funny because you'd think after 5 minutes of getting dumped, my heart would be the one in pain.
"Wow, Smackle. So quick to drop me after 3 years of calling me daddy."
Speak of the devil.
"Farkle." I hiss, my cheeks flaming up. I scowl at him, my mood worsening.
He raises his hands in mock surrender, a smirk on his lips.
"Not awkward at all." Lucas whistles.
I shake my head, "Technically, you're the one who dropped me."
"Yeah well you must've been doing something wrong. Oops."
Riley tsks, "FARKLE MINKUS."
"You're such," my voice quivers and its as if a rock is caught in my throat. "...a jerk."
"Smackle, you aren't gonna cry are you?" Farkle's voice is low, worried and... embarrassed.
Of course, he's embarrassed.
He's ashamed to have made me cry in front of Riley and Lucas. The two most love-happy people we know.
I inhale sharply and clench my fists, "Wouldn't waste the tears. Like I said, this was inevitable. Besides, I can get another you in a minute."
Farkle laughs, a whole hearty laugh. Suddenly Rucas was laughing too.
I narrow my eyes at them. "What? You don't think I could? You doubt my skills?"
"Smackle, no offense, but you've been dating Farkle since middle school. High school boys aren't so easily wooed." Riley giggles, wiping a tear from her eye.
Lucas agrees, chuckling, "Were you quoting Beyonce?"
How dare they?
I cross my arms over my chest. "It's a science."
Farkle cocks an eyebrow at me, "What is? Beyonce lyrics?"
"No," I smile, "Getting a guy. It's a science. And as the smartest kid in this school, I need not mention that science is one of my best subjects."
"It's your favorite." Farkle rolls his eyes.
I wave him off, "Exactly. And that's why you should believe me when I say I can get any guy. Because I am really good at science."
The room stays silent for a bit.
I smirk, "And as proven by the events of today, you weren't a constant in the equation of my love life. Thus replaceable like any other male specimen."
Riley has a confused look on her face and so does Lucas.
But Farkle is wearing a frown, "So then let's have a wager."
