It was uncomfortable being around Farkle.

Mainly because he'd crack a distasteful joke about our relationship and I'd want to stab his eyes out with a fork.

It was easy to dodge him during lunch since I just stuck to talking with Maya and Riley whereas Farkle had moved permanently to the jock tables with Lucas.

But, I couldn't avoid him at the student council meetings.

Last year we had all made it a plan to run as officers. We slayed that election. Riley was the class president, Lucas her vice, I the secretary, Farkle the treasurer, and Maya our PRO.

During the meetings we would bicker like annoying children. There was just something about him that made me tick.

He was insufferable.

Today was Friday which was when council had after school session. I was running a little late because I was taking a test for Physics.

When I reached the classroom we used for meetings, I saw that everyone had gotten started already. And they had one of our senators, Julie, taking notes in my place.

I waved at Riley and made my way towards Julie to let her know I could take over.

But then Farkle saw me and said, "Smackle! Took you long enough. It's not like you to be so late."

"What do you mean? I'm only like 5 minutes behind." I roll my eyes and proceed towards Julie.

"Ah, so you forgot that we decided last time to start immediately after school instead of at 3:15?" He said, his voice smug.

I gasp and turn to Riley and Lucas at the front. "I am so sorry, guys!"

Farkle tsks, and walks over to me. "What kept you? Perhaps, a boy?"

He says the last part quietly so that only I could hear. I bite my lip, refraining any curse word from escaping. I narrow my eyes at him and walk away. Tired of all this.

"Sorry Riley, I had a test for Physics. And you'd think it would be a breeze but Reyes is a tough one." I smile, placing my bag down.

Riley smiles back, "That's okay Smackle. I understand."

"Couldn't you have finished it next week, though?" comes Julie's voice. "This was an important meeting and I'm not really good at taking notes. My hand is seriously cramping."

I turn to her, guilty. "Sorry, I would have lost a few points cause it'd be a late submission."

"But you could have just replaced them with extra credit. You're literally smart enough to have like a ton of them, right?" Julie says a matter of fact.

I nod, unsure why she was pestering me about this. "I probably do but I need to make sure my academic transcripts show I didn't rely on extra credit to pass my classes."

"But you'd get like a 99.9% which in my terms is passing your class." Julie laughs, looking around the room. The others laugh with her.

I smile, "Yeah. But that isn't passing in my terms."

Farkle scoffs, "Hey Smackle, since you're our secretary, how about you try and take notes on how not to be a total nerd."

Maya raises her brow at me, "You gonna let him talk like that?"
