When Remus came downstairs, his parents were making breakfast. Well, his mother was making breakfast while his father stole some of the batter, licking it off his fingers and making faces at Rory. The smell of the batter was drool-worthy, and Remus could barely hide his canine self.
"That smells good, Mum." He commented.
"Well thank you, dear, but the first one is for the birthday girl."
"I know, Mum." Remus grinned in spite of himself as his father took a deep breath, greeting Remus in the way on Lyall Lupin could.
"GOOOD MOORNING, MISTER CHOCOLATE BOY!!!" His father shouted.
"Good morning, Dad. Do you have work today?"
Lyall pretended to be offended. "Of course not!! I would never miss a birthday outing!! I do believe you have work to do while we're out, though, so looks like you will." Lyall looked slyly at his son.
"Father," Remus began, using the title as a reminder of his annoyance. "I just have to pick up a few books."
"A few books, a wand, a couldron, robes, more books...." Rory trailed off. "Good thing you'll ahve me there to keep you company."
"What?! I wnat to spend time with the birthday girl!" Lyall protested at the same time as Remus shouted. "YOU WANT TO COME WITH ME?? THANK YOU SO MUCH, RORY!!"
"Of course I want to come! You're my brother, aren't you?"Rory questioned, ignoring her father.
"That's a good idea, dear." Hope decided. An owl came flying through the window.
It flew to Rory without hesitation. She looked at it in astonishment. It read:

Kitchen in the Lupin Household
It had a red wax seal on it showing the Hogwarts Crest.
"But-but I'm only ten..." She trailed off, opening the letter.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Dear Miss Lupin,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You will find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment in addition to a short note from the headmaster. Term begins on September 1. We await your owl no later than July 31.

"Wow." Rory breathed. "I've got a note from Dumbledore himself."
"What does it say?" Remus asked excitedly.
"I don't know yet, silly. I was reading the acceptance letter. I'll read it now." Rory teased her older brother.
