HUDSONS POV
---------------------I watched Hannah as she quickly walked away. Seeing her like this broke my heart. I backed up against the wall and closed my eyes, hoping that it would all just be okay. I remember when I first met her, I barely even knew her. She just seemed like one of those shy girls who don't really matter, they're kinda just.. there.
But Hannah was different. She teased me and made me actually want to learn more about her, as if she had her personality locked inside her and the only way it would unlock was with words. I remember it all so well.
"Hudson, I'll put you right here, at Hannah's table." The teacher pointed. I didn't know her, I didn't even know her name was Hannah. I sat across from her, and she glanced at me as if she had seen me before. I had seen her around too, I just didn't know much about her. She moved here this year, but for some reason, she looked familiar. She quickly looked back down to her book she was reading when I caught her staring, it was weird, I actually didn't mind. Eventually we started talking, and I could definitely call her the shy type. She barely talked, but when she did, she was amazing. She could make me laugh or smile with just 3 simple words. The days went by, and the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months. I never wanted to change my seat.
I never even thought about it.
I developed a crush on her after awhile. It was just something about her that I loved. I always would get sad when I didn't see her in her seat, because I knew she was absent. We also did this little game where I would try to kick her legs under her desk and pin her feet to the floor. She was weaker than I was, and I always thought that was cute. She would pretend to get offended when I would win our game, but at the end of the day she would always get me back by stepping on the back of my shoes and laughing. It got a little annoying, but it was worth it because it made her happy. For awhile that was my way of life, doing that every single day at school. But, the day I was dreading for so long finally came, we had to change seats. I didn't sit next to her in any of my classes anymore, and we never played our game ever again. It made me sad to know that I didn't have her cute little smile to greet me everyday anymore.
"Hudson!" A voice woke me from my trance. I quickly opened my eyes and saw Violet standing there, so I immediately stood up. "What?" I asked her. "Did you do what I asked you?" She whispered. I suddenly remembered what happened with Hannah, and my face slowly went to a frown. "Yeah.." I say quietly. "Good Boy." Violet says as she pats me on the head. I slap her arm away from me.
"Ow!" She exclaims as she holds her arm. "What was that for?!" She growls. "Don't fucking touch me, you're evil." I snap. I'm surprised that I actually cussed, but I don't care. "Awww, what's wrong?" She says teasingly. "You know what you did." I say. "You didn't have to do it, you chose to." She smirks. "You would've embarrassed me in front of the whole school! Of course I had to do it!" I shout.
"Whoa, take it easy. At least you did it, right?" She smiles. "Yeah, I did it." I sigh. "And that was about one of the hardest things I've ever done." "Well, the only way to break her was this, so there's no going back now." She shrugs. "Seeing her so sad brings me joy, and I kinda like ruining her life, it feels good." She smiles. I looked into Violet's cold eyes and saw nothing but evil.
I just shook my head at her and slowly walked into the cafeteria. I held back tears as I saw Hannah crying and Deirdre trying to comfort her. I was almost positive that she had already told Deirdre what I said, and I was definitely gonna get it. I sat back down at my table and nobody questioned me. They just casually talked to me, as if I wasn't as horrible as I felt.
The whole time I was eating, I kept thinking about what happened. I can't believe I did that to her. The only person who actually loved me..
And I broke her.
Violet explained everything to me. I had to break Hannah's heart. She was going to hurt her emotionally before she hurt her physically, and that's just so evil. She threatened to tell the whole school that me and Hannah were dating if I didn't do what she said. At first I said no, since nobody would believe that bull, but then I realized that she was one of the popular girls now, and anyone would believe what she said.
I pushed that thought out of my mind but it kept coming back. I tried to distract myself from all this, so I talked to Emilio. "Hey, Emilio, are you doing anything after school today?" I ask him. He shrugs his shoulders. "Nah, I don't think so, why?" "Do you wanna hang out after school?" I ask.
"Sure!" Emilio says happily. It's been awhile since we hung out, so I'm kinda happy as well. The bell rings and I quickly clean up. I race out the cafeteria door and start thinking about what me and Emilio should do after school. Maybe soccer, some video games, maybe I can ask him if he can spend the night at my house. I glance behind me and see Hannah and my smile turns to a frown. I start thinking about what Violet said again and then it hit me like a truck.
I would've lost her either way.
