"Who..?" I question. But Violet doesn't hear me, she's already gone by the time I say it. I stay at my seat and listen. "omg! Violet! How's it going girl?" Amanda says. Huh, she seems like the sassy type I think to myself. "Gosh, Amanda, it's been what seems like forever!" Violet says happily.

Amanda is a little shorter than Violet and I. She's got blonde hair that goes a little below her shoulders, and from what I can see from where I'm sitting, dark blue eyes. Evil dark blue eyes. What am I saying? I don't even know her yet. But by the looks of her sassy skirt and fancy shoes, I can tell I won't like her anyways. She's just.. Her.

Violet talks to her a little longer and then takes her hand. "There's someone I want you to meet." She says. Violet takes Amanda over to her desk and looks at me. "This is my best friend, Hannah." Violet smiles. Amanda looks annoyed, and kinda shocked that Violet said 'best friend' instead of 'friend'. Great, some good old "she's my best friend not yours" rivalry.

"I've got to go pee. I'll be right back guys." Violet says as she rushes off to ask the teacher where the bathroom is. Amanda smiles at Violet as she walks out the door and then instantly looks back at me. By the looks of her face, this isn't going to be good. "How long have you known Violet?" She asks.

"I met her yesterday." I say. Amanda laughs. "Hmm, 2 years ago for me." She says proudly. I just roll my eyes. Suddenly I get an idea. "Do you know when Violet's birthday is? She never told me." I smirk. "Um.. Well, if you're her best friend you should know." She says. I laugh. "You don't know, do you?" I say.

"Well YOU'RE her best friend. YOU should know!" She says angrily. "I met her yesterday. What's your excuse?" She looks like she's about to give me a piece of her mind when Violet walks in. "Hey! I'm back! Whoa, Amanda, you okay?" Amanda's face quickly turns back to a sweet little smile that it seems like I'd been imagining her anger the whole time.

"Yep! You know me, just picking fun." She smiles. Amanda glares at me from the corner of her eye. "Okay, just checking." Violet says. "Okay everyone! Please sit down." The teacher says. Amanda waves goodbye to Violet but not to me of course. Violet sits down and looks at me. "Isn't she nice?" She says smiling. "Oh, she's really something." I say. Violet smiles again and class begins.

The next class flies by fast. Then, finally, it's lunch time. Violet and I sit in the same place that we did yesterday, next to the door so we can be the first ones to get out. It's not even a minute or two before Amanda pops up at the front of our table. "Hey vi! Can I sit with you?" She says. "Sure! Is it okay with you, Hannah?" I probably would've blurted out no, but Violet would've been Upset, so I just nod.

"Great!" Amanda says happily. She sits on the end of the table next to Violet, but on her way there elbows me in the back. I groan silently from the pain so Violet doesn't notice. Amanda and Violet talk the whole time and they don't even realize that I'm there. It's kinda sad, being surrounded by people but still feeling lonely anyway. And let me tell you, it really is the worst feeling.

Suddenly, a head pops up from the crowd of students eating. It's Deirdre, and she notices me sitting there, looking all lonely. She quickly grabs her lunch and moves over to me. She plops her stuff down on the table and sits right next to me. She doesn't even say "hi" or "what's up?" She just says something that makes me feel special. "You okay?"

The first thing she thinks about is if I'm doing okay, and that makes me the happiest person alive. She wants to know if I'm okay, she notices how sad I am. I just hug her and she doesn't say a word. "Okay, okay, that's enough hugging." She giggles. I wipe the tears from my eyes and laugh. "You looked kinda sad when I came over here, wanna talk?" She asks me.

I tell her all about Amanda and the man chasing us and how alone I felt before she came over. I have to admit, talking about it made me feel much better. The best part is that Deirdre just sat there and listened, she didn't interrupt or say short comments like "oh my gosh!" Or "wow." She just.. Listened.

When I finish, She just smiles. "You definitely need another hug right now." She says. She leans in to hug me and I don't back away. "It's best friends like you Deirdre.. It's best friends like you." I whisper, trying not to cry again. After awhile of hugging, Deirdre finally says something. "I'm having a small sleepover this weekend. It's Saturday. You should come." I nod. "I'll text you the info."

I nod again and Deirdre starts heading off to her next class. "Wait! Deirdre?" I stop her. "Yea?" She replies. "Thank you. For, um, being there for me." I smile. She smiles back and waves to me as she heads out the cafeteria door. I look over at Violet and her and Amanda are talking it up. I don't even tap Violet's shoulder. I just grab my things and head out the door without her.

I'm walking out the door when someone stops me. "Hey! Hannah!" The voice says. I whirl around to see Hudson, running towards me. "whoa! Slow down! Don't wanna knock me over again." I joke. "Haha, very funny." He says as he slows down. "So what's up?" I ask. "My party on Saturday. Jake told you right?" "Right. Something like that." I say. "Cool, see you there I guess." Hudson says as he runs off. I start walking and think of something that makes me stop right in my tracks.

Deirdre's sleepover is on Saturday, too.
