Chapter 8

They sat there numb while they cleaned up the mess and the blood. These were not gifts, or abilities, or whatever Darius wanted to call them. They were cursed. They could kill so easily. Eventually Louis woke up and after he was convinced everything would be okay he told them about what Eric said, about staying to get control of themselves and then they would release them again. There was a heated argument on whether to stay or try to escape. But they were being fed and had water and beds and were finally together. They all realized that they were cursed with whatever they did to them and decided to stay until they thought they can go out into the world without destroying it. There had already been so many problems. By just holding Eleanor's hand Louis broke her fingers and he felt horrible, even though he didn't mean too. Danielle accidentally startled Liam and he turned into a lion and nearly attacked her. Whenever Harry got angry he couldn't control the lightening from shooting out. So many things could go wrong if they were near their families or people they loved. They decided to stay, only for a little while, until they were sure they wouldn't kill someone. Darius came into the arena at one point with a giant whiteboard with all their names on it. "This is for us who are observing you," he described, "we will write down the abilities you have and what you can do with them." He wrote all there abilities, it went like this:

Fire bending-Zayn

Earth bending-Niall

Water bending-Danielle

Air bending-Eleanor

Lightening-Harry

Metal-Perrie

Strength-Louis

Invisibility- Erin

Mimicry (anything living)-Liam

Teleportation (as long as she's touching another person she can teleport them also) And Telepathy-Paige

They stared at the board. Did things like this really happen in life? Danielle turned to Liam and grabbed his hand, he jerked at her touch. Danielle looks at his hand, "oh my god Liam," he had a cut all the way up his arm. No one had noticed before because Liam hasn't changed out of his bloody clothes and he didn't want to scare anyone. Danielle got him to take his shirt off and washed him off with her water bending. He was cut all over, there weren't that deep, besides the one that went from his collar bone to his wrist. He had lost a lot of blood, Danielle goes to wash it off, and something amazing happens! Her hands start glowing and the scar disappears! She does this with the rest of his cuts and its like nothing had even happened. A guard walks over to the whiteboard and writes:

It took longer than they thought, when they agreed to stay until they got their curses under control they didn't know it would take months. But they couldn't go home without being able to control themselves. In the months that they stayed there they learned more things about their powers. Liam could shape-shift into any living creature, any animal, any human. And when he turns into a human he could touch on their thoughts, and would know how they would respond and act in different situations. Danielle perfected her water bending, she perfected her reflexes and was ready for anything, she also had amazing healing abilities. Louis got his strength under control and could hold Eleanor without breaking her. Erin found out that not only could she turn invisible but she could also create force fields that were strong enough to stop a bullet, or a car going eighty miles an hour. Harry realized that not only could he shoot lightening out if his hands but he could control the voltage, he could send anything out from a small shock to enough voltage that would kill a human immediately, also he could send the voltage throughout his body so if anyone tried to grab him they would be shocked. Zayn learned how to control the fire he created without burning the building to the ground. Niall and Perrie perfected their bending as well. Through her air bending Eleanor realized she could jump thirty feet in the air and could create tornados. Paige could teleport and as long as she was touching other people she could teleport them as well. Through her telepathy she found out that she could not only read minds but put her thoughts into other people's heads and they would think they were their own. "We're finally ready," says Erin. "Yes," says Niall, "we can finally escape. Tonight."

There was a knock on her door. Every time someone was at the door her heart sped up and she always thought it would be Harry coming home. A year of knocking, a year of Harry being gone. Anne answers the door to see two policemen. "Have you found them?" "Ma'am may we please come in?" Anne didn't like the professional attitude they were using, she prepared herself to be told they found the bodies. "It's been a year, and we have followed every lead. Nothing has turned up. We have used so many resources on this search. We are declaring it cold, ma'am." Anne let the news sink in "You're giving up!? My baby is out there, I know he isn't dead. You can't just give up!" Anne started crying her worst nightmare had come true, her child was never going to be found. "Mrs. Cox we are declaring it cold, presuming the ten dead. We're so sorry."
