The Girl

It was now evening, and the sun was beginning to fall, creating a dazzling display of colors. The clouds seemed to have completely parted leaving a clear open sky. The city glowed with flashing lights and the general city buzz.

But despite this, Xankai's eyes were glued to the girl that stood before him. She had shoulder length hair colored like amethyst. Her eyes were of nearly the same color and appeared to actually sparkle in the light. She was wearing nothing but a white kimono, which was being worn backwards, something only done to the dead at their funerals. Completely memorized by her stunning appearance, Xankai completley forgot to speak, and before he remembered to, Akiko did.

"Hey, quit staring you blue haired creep." She said quickly and with a surprising amount of sass.

"My apologies!" The god quickly retorted  "I forgot to introduce myself, My name is Xankai, I am a god of the earth, and I have returned you to the world of the living to work with me as my regalia"

"Ya, ya, that's great, now can I get into some real clothes?" She responded, motioning to the kimono she was currently wearing.

"Well, I don't personally see anything wrong with the kimono you have on, but if that is what you wish, then you will have new garments." The god responded almost as if he was offended by her distaste for the kimono. Xankai and Akiko then walked along the streets until they came to the nearest clothing store, at which point Xankai spoke to Akiko.

"Choose whatever is to your preference, I want for you to be as comfortable as possible while in my possession and under my protection." Without speaking a word to the god, Akiko walked into the store and grabbed clothing which was out of Xankai's view and went to the fitting room. While she was in the changing room she noticed that her name was now imprinted in kanji on her shoulder blade. When she emerged she was wearing dark skinny jeans which were torn at the knees, a white shirt, a black zip up jacket that was unzipped, and pair of black sneakers.

"That is...certainly different" Xankai said to Akiko as he moved towards the counter in order to pay for the clothing.

"It's what normal people wear you green kosode wearing freak." she said insultingly. The god spoke nothing in return and rubbed the back of his neck as he approached the register. He reached into his hakama and removed a single golden coin and placed it on the counter as he proceeded out the door. "You can't pay in gold!" complained Akiko as she followed behind him out the store yelling at him to go back.

The god walked in silence until they were all the way outside of the city and had reached where the trees began once again. The god stopped looked and around as if he was searching the area then looked toward Akiko who was following closely behind, mumbling complaints to herself.

"Ok, you're gonna answer some questions for me" Akiko said, in a demanding voice to Xankai.

"I will answer as many questions as I see fit" Xankai responded.

"First, let me get a couple of things straight, so you're supposed to be some great god of the earth, and you need me in order to help you get your job done?...Why should I Believe you?!" Xankai nodded in understanding, and began to kneel to the ground. He placed both palms on the ground, closed his eyes and began to slowly raise his palms up from the ground. The area around and under his palms began to turn green, and with the rising of his palms flowers began to rise. A large assortment of flowers, ranging from roses to lotus flowers, all of which appeared out of thin air as the god moved his hands. The god then stood up and looked at Akiko, who was staring at the flowers in awe, it finally dawning on her that she was in the presence of a god. She tried to shake that feeling of being humbled and carried on.

"Ok, so I'm dead. How did I die? I can't remember a thing!" At this question the god looked up with a look of fear and panic in his eyes.

"You must never ask such questions again!" The god said in a thundering voice that was enough to make any human to immediately obey.

"Ok, ok, I'll drop that. Since I'm gonna be working with you, I wanna know what kind of work you do, and how I fit into it." She said in a voice that was still quivering slightly from the gods outburst.

"I will not pretend that it is going to be easy, but it is our job. Our job will be to protect the world, and humanity from any and all threats that it may face. You have already seen what just one of the phantoms in the world looks like, and that was simply the surface of what's to come. I will use the power that you grant me as a weapon in order to vanquish such evils, that is what being a regalia entails. You must be ready to come to me at the call of your name. Do you think you are ready...to be a regalia?" Xankai asked, in a solemn tone. Akiko looked at the god, look down at the flowers, and after a few moments of hesitation she spoke.

"What do I need to know?"
