The sky was grey with little to no flushes of blue in the rarely parted clouds. The air was moist and smelled of smoke from the ongoing steel trains within Kings Cross. Trinity was looking at the sky, her honey colored eyes looking dull from the lack of sun. She exhaled heavily and tore her eyes away to see the montage of students entering Hogwarts Express, the train that took witches and wizards, like herself, to Hogwarts, the school of witchcraft and wizardry. To her home."Alyssa."
Trinity looked left to her father who stood beside her mother with his arm around her waist. They both wore a sad smile upon their face. "I'll miss you."
Trinity immediately went to them and hugged them tightly, her arms squeezing them hard. "I'll miss you too."
Her mother squeezed back. "Send a letter often, okay?"
Trinity pulled back, looking into her mothers eyes. "I promise."
Her father smiled once again and ruffled her hair playfully, laughing when she swatted his hand away and glared at him. "Kick butt in quidditch, alright? I want to see my daughter in the big leagues."
Trinity rolled her eyes but couldn't help the smile that tugged at the corner of her lips. "I'll do my best."
"Always the modest one." Her mother commented, a proud grin spreading across her features. "Write to us whenever you need anything Alyssa."
"I know mom," Trinity said, putting her hands in the pocket of her dark scarlet coat. Despite the odd looks she received for wearing a coat for this time of the year, fall, she always brought her parents gift with her, and would always wear it on the day she arrived at Hogwarts. It was a peacoat that reached below her hips and stopped a bit before the middle of her thighs. The gift changed between two colors according to how she felt: red with different shades according to her mood or a beautiful royal blue.
"Trinity!" Someone called from her right. She turned and was instantly greeted by a flash of hands and before she knew it she was being tackled. She put one foot back reflexively and regained balance before looking down at the mess of brown hair. Her smile grew wide as she looked down at her best friend who grinned back up at her.
"What's up hoe?"
"Language," Kayla's mother scolded from behind her daughters only recently have caught up to them. Trinity shook her head and hugged Kayla back.
"Have you no class?"
"What's that?"
Trinity rolled her eyes and pulled away and she felt her father rest a hand upon her shoulder. "Hello Mrs. Chang, it's nice to see you again." Trinity's father greeted warmly.
"Hey Greg, it's nice to see you and Lexa as well." Kayla's mother responded kindly. "Were you just about to board?"
"Somewhat," Lexa said. " We were just saying our goodbyes."
A series of mechanical noises came out from the train and smoke poured out from top of a tubelike device on the roof of the head of the train. Kayla tugged on Trinity's sleeve of her coat. "C'mon the thing is about to leave."
Trinity turned and gave one last hug to her parents. "Love you."
"We love you too Kiddo," Her father said with a mixture of sadness and something else. He pulled away and looked into his daughters eyes. "Kick butt, alright?"
A sly smile appeared on Trinitys face. "Always," She said, winking as she backed away. Kayla was just saying farewell to her mother when Trinity grabbed her belongings and rushed with her best friend to the Hogwarts Express.
