I had washed all my clothes that I had been taken in and figured out how I would keep my possibly broken arm a secret. That in which was going to be a challenge. I needed to be at my 100 percent if I was facing Legend tonight. And I was not backing down. Even if it killed me.

"Jake! Jace! Get your asses down here!" I yelled I was ready to go and these two idiots were taking forever. Jace was riding over with me because we are always seen together at races since he's my detailer. And Jake drives his own car and stays at a distance. No one really knows all that well that Mists and Jake know each other so we try to keep it as normal as possible.

All I feared today were the incoming questions of where I've been and the possibility of the 'are you Layla Rose' question that will piss me off if I hear it. In this town people will always figure out there secrets after a while.

I sighed and slid my mask onto my face as I walked out the door into the garage. Turning on my car waiting for Jace to get into the car. It was time for me to beat Legend. I needed to do this for me before I left. And for my father.

Jace jumped into the car and looked at me. "Layla. Are you sure your ready for this?" He asked me. I nodded quietly. I didn't really have any words at the moment. Was I ready? Who knows. All I knew is that I needed to do this no matter what others said.

"You know what. I don't know if I'm ready, but in the end that doesn't really matter does it? It's not like I can back down now." I said as I would put the car in drive and begin heading to the racing post. My adrenaline was pumping. And in that moment I knew I was ready. I needed to beat this bastard.

I would pull up to the starting line next to Legend who was already there, he soon glanced in my direction. He also wore a mask to cover his own identity. I still didn't know the man who was responsible for my fathers death. Maybe I would find out today. His stakes were as always the same as my own. If I lost, I took off the mask. If he lost, he took off the mask, everyone was happy.

I glanced over at Jace, "Let's get this over with." I said as I got out of the car, walking right over to Legend who was standing beside his car.

"So, looks like someones finally getting unmasked today." Legend said, a slight venom to his tone. "It's going to be you." He said as he leaned in, his breath on my ear. I flinched.

"Layla Rose."

He knew. He fucking knew. How could he? I was so careful. Even the little innocent running my car off the road. How the hell could he have known it was me? I sucked that day to be completely honest. If it wasn't from that race, how could he have known? Panic welled within me.

"I don't know what your talking about, Legend." I said as I shoved him away, rolling my eyes. "If my identity was that easy to figure out, don't you think someone would have outed me by now?" I said as I laugh. Now, standing toe to toe with him, I looked him directly in the eye. "Don't fuck with me. Not today of all days." I soon shoved him away, and walked back to my car.

"You look like you've seen a ghost." Jace said simply when I returned. I scent him a glare.

"Racers, get to the starting line and ready your cars. The race begins in five minutes."

I let out a sharp breath, my eyes once again traveling over to look at Legend. He was starring me down as well. I could see the sadistic looking smirk on his face, it made me want to puke.

I quickly looked away from him, and jumped in my car. Jace soon came over to the drivers side to talk to me. "I double checked everything. From your engine to the lollipops in your glove box. Everything is in place and ready when you are." He said, "You got this, Mists."

With that I started the engine and she purred to life, soon I was making my way to the starting line with Legend. I had made sure that him and I would be the only to competing tonight. A face off between us meant that no matter what, one of us was loosing our mask.

I took in a deep breath, and reached over into my glove box grabbing the first lollipop I could get my hands on. I unwrapped it and quickly put it in my mouth. Now I was ready. My hand gripped the wheel hard, my other hand lightly placed on the shiftier. This was going to be difficult with my arm being in bad shape. However, not wasn't the time to think about that. I barely had to move that arm, it would stay on the shiftier a majority of the race. Only a few movements would be needed.

"No cash stakes tonight. Only the mask of the person dubbed the looser. Everyone is okay with these stakes?"

The crowd cheered, Legend and I both nodded in agreement, glancing over at each other. I could see the sinister smirk on his face. He was planning something. Either that or the plans were already set into motion the moment I got to the starting line.

I needed to be on guard.

The girl with the flag nodded and spoke again. "Alright, on my count."

"3."

"2."

"1."

A shot sounded into the air and Legend and I took off. Each of us going full strength out of the starting line. I shifted gears as we got going, it wasn't long before the first drift came into view. So far I was in the lead. And I wasn't going to loose that lead on the drift. No one can out drift me.

I easily drifted the corner, Legend was right on me though. As we came around the corner he punched it, pulling in front of me. Shit. Okay, no time to panic. We still had the rest of the race right? It was first person to the top of the mountain.

For this race, I had two things of nos on board. There weren't really any rules against how much nos you could carry during a race. As long as you knew how to use it without blowing yourselves up, or overworking your car in the process.

Now was the time to use the first one, it was about half way through the race just like I had planned. I was going to use one during the middle and one at the end. I had no idea if Legend had the same idea. But we were about to find out. I pressed down on the button, and soon it propelled me forward. I passed Legend easily.

I had expected the race to be more eventful, but in the end I won. It was easier then I thought it would be. It was like Legend let me win which didn't sit well with me. It made me think that he was planning something.

The race was over, and I was soon surrounded and congratulated by many people. However, Legend sat off to the side with his car simply watching as the scene unfolded in front of him. He was planning something. And knowing Legend, it wasn't good.

Soon, the other racer hopped back in his car and made his way back down the mountain. Wait. He didn't reveal himself? That bastard. Those were the damned rules that we both agreed to, and now he wasn't going to carry out his promise? Of course he was going to pull this shit. That was who he's always been.

Everyone stood around, watching as Legend drove off, standing in awe of the situation. I was pissed. But, in the end I knew this wasn't the last I was going to see of Legend. He clearly had a plan. He would never let me win a race that easily, especially with that much on the line.

I glanced over at Jace and Jake who were starring back at me, wondering what my plan was. Truth be told, in that moment I didn't have one. I believed that was going to be the race that ended this whole thing. But, in the end it was just a disappointment for everyone.

I stood in complete silence, starring down the mountain. This wasn't the last time I was going to see Legend.

I know, I know, I promised a chapter a long time ago, and this one is super short compared to others. However, this story is only beginning. This leg of the story has come to a close, and soon Mists will be in a completely new racing environment. She will be testing her skills even more, learning new things. Maybe even facing Legend again someday. Keep up, because this is about to get a whole lot more interesting!
