I walked through the school with my head down, my eyes cast on the ground. Don't make eye contact, don't pick any fights, don't cause trouble. Those were the rules. I was a sophomore and I was new to the school.
I knew this place was full of monsters. Literally monsters. I'm talking about vampires, werewolves, fairies, warlocks, demons and hunters. Yes. They exist. No I am not one of them. My parents were both vampire hunters, my aunt, uncle and cousins are all warlocks and my grandparents were werewolves.
But I'm just the little human who can't do anything. I go to karate classes so I can kick ass pretty easily. The only "power" I have is sight of all the creatures. Sight to see what they truly are. Monsters.
"Hey look at the little human," a group of juniors sneered. Vampires.
Walk away. Walk away. Walk away. But no, their thirst for human blood and bullying was too strong. One grabbed my books and threw them on the ground while the other grabbed me and began dragging me towards a bathroom to drink my blood. Talk about desperate.
"You might not want to mess with me, vampy," I growled. "My parents are hunters and they come after your asses if you lay a single hand on me."
"Don't ya love the tough ones," he asked his buddies.
Rolling my eyes, I back-kicked him in the nuts. Vampires felt pain like everyone else. Demons didn't though. But thats a different story. He yelped out in surprise and pain and I punched the others in the face before they could act.
Now vampires do not have super speed or strength. They just are undead, bloodsucking immortals that no one likes. Well the only plus is they could see into the future. I walked back, grabbed my books and ran to class, barely making it in time. The bell ran just as I slid into my seat.
It was only first period and I'd already been attacked by vampires. Great. Since the high school ran on a block schedule, we had two class periods per subject. And we only had two core classes every day. They were called Blue Days (Mondays and Wednesdays) and Gray Days (Tuesdays and Thursdays). They were named after the schools colors. And on Fridays it was 'unblocked' so we had every class and one period for each.
It seemed stupid to me but whatever. So as I sat, bored to death in history class, someone caught my eye. He was a fairy and fairy's held a unknown beauty to themselves. But he was different somehow. I shook my head clear of these thought, no supernaturals. They were off limits. Unless they were hunters. But then again what supernatural would date a human?
The bell broke my thoughts in two. I defiantly was not going back out there. Nope. I have had enough of the supernatural world for today.
"Hey," someone said and I whipped around.
It was fairy boy. I squeezed my eyes shut and turned back around. No. Do not look him in the eyes. He'll enchant you in two seconds. No Hannah, no enchantment today.
"So you know what I can do then," I could almost see him smirk. "I don't go for humans usually but you are different. You have the power of sight."
"Yeah? What about my sight," I growled. "You have a problem with it?"
"Oh yes. I have a big problem with you being able to see the monsters of this world," his voice dripped sarcasm. "My name is Alex."
"Great. Don't care," I answered.
"You aren't going to tell me your name," he question and I flew from my chair.
"You think I want anything to do with you? I already got attacked by a gang of vampires. I live with a family of wolves, warlocks and hunters and I'm the only human in it. How do you think I feel about it? Shitty. Absolutely shitty about it. Cause I'm a human," I mocked him. "Human. A human in the middle of all this shit."
