Centuries later......
I awoke, the dream of my early life haunting me once again. I fingered the necklace that glowed brightly. Alex's soul still resided in the necklace. I shook my head clear of the thoughts and dialed my best friend.
He was a god. Literally. He was helping me find a body for Alex. To say the least it wasn't going so great. He had found a old Greek ritual to try and perform in the morning. But he didn't sleep and I got little to no sleep too.
I remember the day I went to the vampires territory and fought them all but in the end, they still slit his throat. I barely captured his soul in the necklace before the vampires ate him. They kept me in prison for years. Finally a good vampire helped me escape and activated my mark.
He'd been killed since he helped me escape so I still haven't mastered looking into the future.
"Hey Hannah," Ash said through the phone. "Shouldn't you be asleep?"
"I can't fucking sleep anymore Ash. It is all to much," I finally broke down, sobbing.
"Hannah," he stopped and teleported to me. "You've been strong for this long, please hold on."
"I'm done being brave. I'm done being strong. I'm done," I sobbed. "I just want Alex back!"
Ash let me cry on his shoulder. This was the first time since Merlin and Alex's death that I had cried. I cried for Merlin. I cried for Alex. I cried for myself. I cried for all the mundanes that I had once befriended. I cried for the supernaturals that died for me. I cried and I cried till I couldn't cry anymore.
"You ok then," Ash asked gently.
"No. I need him," I whispered.
"There is only so many gods I can make deals with! There are only so many rituals I know how to preform! There is only so much we can do," Ash shook his head. "Its a wonder you haven't given up yet."
"You are a god," I screamed. "You can create anything! Why don't you just create him a body!?"
"I have been trying, Hannah," Ash growled through clenched teeth.
"Ash. I can't do it anymore. I can't wait for you to take your dandy time with creating Alex a new body. If you don't come to me with a body by the end of this week," I paused for a second. "I'll go to another god and I never want to see your face again."
And with that I sent him away, back to his flat in Rome. I knew I was being irrational but I had to end my pain. I sighed and summoned my ever so faithful protectors.
"Find me the goddess of creation or the goddess of birth or the goddess of something that makes new bodies," I said absently.
Nick and Dylan flashed out in reply. I walked down the stairs, my thoughts jumbled. Grabbing my car keys I headed out the door. I drove to the library to find books on recantation.
'Hey. The gods aren't very happy we are here. They want us to leave,' Dylan thought as I climbed out of the car.
'Tell them to bring their damn problems to me,' I snapped back. 'Get on with your mission please.'
Dylan didn't reply. Maybe I had been to harsh on him. I walked up to the front desk.
"Where is the spiritual section," I asked the librarian.
"In the back left corner," she smiled and I nodded.
I walked to the back and began to rub my fingers over the bindings. The knowledge seeped into me until my finger stopped on one book. 'Rituals Of Reincarnation'. I pulled it out and flipped through it.
