Isabel stands in the corner of the medical room, it's used as an infirmary when someone gets hurt, like right now. Bruce stands over Thor the unconscious and wounded god.
"So, uh, this is Thor?" Isabel asks slowly
"Yeah" Bruce says checking Thor's pulse
"Is he gonna be alright?" she asks
"He'll be fine" Bruce says "he's a god, he's stronger than he seems"
"And the other one, the one with the black hair is Loki?" Isabel is trying as hard as she can to assimilate all this information "he's Thor's brother?"
"Yeah, well, sort of" Bruce puts away his stethoscope
"Sort of?" Isabel asks
"See, they grew up together but Loki is from Jotungheim the world of the giants. Odin long ago fought Laufey the king of Jotunheim and won, he took a baby that was left to die and raised him as his son" Bruce explains as simply as he can "so they grew up together and they had this big fight, Loki found out he wasn't Asgardian he threw a hissy fit. He planned his revenge and that was the attack on New York"
"Wait wait wait" Isabel says shaking her head "Jotunheim? Another world? How many are there?" her eyebrows are raised in confusion and shock
"Nine" Bruce wipes some blood off his hands and puts away the bandages they used on Thor.
"Nine? Like the nine planets in our solar system?" Isabel asks
"Yeah, just like that except that the Norse believed that each of the nine worlds rested on the branches of the tree of life Yggdrasil" Bruce says and sits beside Isabel
"Okay, I'll do some research on that later" she murmurs "so what now?"
"That's a tricky question" Bruce sighs "I guess we wait until Thor wakes up, he'll tell us what happened"
"Why don't we just ask Loki what happened?" Izzy asks
"Isabel, Loki is the trickster god" Bruce explains calmly "we can't trust anything he says, for all we know he stabbed Thor"
"But he could be innocent right?" Isabel asks, Bruce shakes his head sighing but something inside of Isabel tells her that she can trust Loki. She doesn't know why, but Loki doesn't seem like the big villain everyone is making him out to be. Sure, he's had his problems and all but being a trickster could mean that all the wrongs he's done he's only seen them as a joke, a dangerous and dark joke.
"What will happen to Loki?" she asks looking at her hands
"We have a small prison here on the compound" Bruce shrugs "he's probably there" Isabel nods and stands, when she reaches the doorway Bruce calls out to her
"Don't go see him Isabel. You don't know what he's capable of. Promise me you won't see him today"
"I promise" Isabel says "I'm going to train with Nat for a while" she leaves and, true to her word, she goes to the training room where she finds Nat but she's not alone, the twins are also there. Isabel is torn between facing them or going to her room instead. She takes a deep breath and curses softly.
"Hey Nat", she greets entering the room
"Hey Isabel I thought you wouldn't train tonight" Nat says lowering the guns in her hands. Isabel stands next to her and looks at the target. It has two holes, one in the middle of its head and the other in the chest. Nat takes out the empty cartridges from the guns and sets them on a small shelf on the wall, she walks back to Izzy who is trying not to stare at the twins but it's hard not to. They're very intimidating.
