All this started with a boy... A boy who thought that he would safe with his Night Fury he befriended when he was fifteen. Along the way, he reunited with his long-lost mother, Valka and gained a new life filled with Dragons for five years. Five years had gone by and the boy knew that he need help with his problems. He asked for Berk. Berk quickly responds for his cry for help, but in return, the boy got a surprise shock. His father passed, and now it is up to him to finish what he had started. The boy is no other than Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, often known in other villages, "Rider."

Hiccup

I groaned in my bed, not wanting to wake up. "Five more minutes." I muttered in my sleep. Suddenly, I heard a thump in my roof. I knew instantly who it was. It was Toothless, my best friend who is now the Alpha of all Dragons. I smiled, pretend I didn't listen to the Night Fury. He groans, "Hiccup, wake up!" "Ok, Ok, I'm up!" I said in Dragonese. I got up and opened the door. Things never been the same since Drago attacked Berk. A lot of homes had to be rebuild and Dragons had no place to stay. Mom helps a lot by explaining the villagers what had happened to her and why she made everyone thought she was dead. I thought about Dad, and it made me feel guilty. Why he had to die when I needed him the most? I don't know what a Chief do or what I should do. Toothless climbed down from the roof and greets me. "Morning, Chief." "Toothless, you can still call me "Hiccup." I am still new to being Chief since yesterday, remember?" I asked. He said, "I know what you are thinking, Hiccup. It's still my fault. I should've known it was a trap." "Toothless, I need time. I feel like..." "Going on a flight?" He asks, grinning as if reading my mind. I laughed at the new Alpha, "Exactly. That's why I am glad I have you." I climbed into his saddle and as I was about to take off, Astrid, my fiancé said, "Where you going, Hic? Everyone is waiting for you in the Academy." "Astrid... I'm just want to get my mind off of things. I will be back, I promise." "Ok." I gave her a quick peck on the cheek. "I'll see you later, Milady." We flew off before she had said another word.

Astrid

I watched Hic go. He still been over the edge since Gothi made him officially Chief of Berk. I walked around the village and I spotted Valka. "Valka!" I greeted the Dragon Vigilante. "Astrid, where is my son?" She asks, curious. I pointed where I last saw him. "Went on a flight." "He still have doubts about being Chief, isn't he?" I nodded. "Yeah... I think so. I'm worried." I said. She laughs as if this was nothing to fear. "Hiccup always does this back when he was living with me. Give him some space, Astrid. He'll come around eventually." She said. I had forgotten that she and Hiccup lived together for five years in her amazing Dragon Sanctuary that they had saved Dragons from Drago Bludvist's Trappers. "I'm heading to Dragon Academy." I said. She nods and I walked to the Arena where I spotted the other Dragon Riders with their Dragons. "Morning, Astrid." Fishlegs said. "Where's the Dragon Master?" Heather asks, petting Windshear. "Went on a flight with Toothless." I replied. Gustav laughs, "Again? Wow, that's been forever since..." I knew what he was trying to say. Ever since Stoick, my adoptive father and Chief of Berk and Hiccup's father died, Hiccup hasn't been himself. "Val told me this happens all the time when you guys lived in the Dragon Sanctuary and I shouldn't be worried about it." Gustav and Heather looked at one other. "Yeah. He does that ever since we had known him. I'm sure he would come around once he gets settled." Gustav explains. Snoutlout said, "It's hard to believe that he single-handly defended Berk with Toothless." "A lot of things happen in five years, Snoutlout." Heather reminds him. "Yeah, besides this is Hic we are talking about! He trained a Night Fury! I'm sure he can handle being Chief!" I said. But I thought, "Can he do this from being away for five years?"
