When I Fell...

Chapter 4

As soon as we stepped inside we heard the music blasting from the speakers.

A petite girl saw us and walked towards us.

But there was something odd about her.

"Shadow hunters," she stated.

"We have an invitation," Ava stated boldly.

"I don't recall inviting shadowhunters," she paused. "But I could be wrong."

"A friend of yours gave us an invitation," Ava stated.

"Hmm. So it seems. What an odd company you keep," she mused.

Jessamine shrugged.

"Anyway, enjoy my party," she stated.

With that she walked away.

"Charlotte is ever so charming," Ethan mused.

I realized what was off about the her.

Her teeth were sharp like a cats and her eyes flickered momentarily like a cats.

Jessamine dragged me to the center of the house into the large crowd.

The song was fast paced and it blasted at full volume. The song was entrancing.

Jessamine was swinging her arms in a graceful way about her body. I was bouncing on the palls of my feet.

Then my favorite song came on and I went into a dance routine that consisted of jumping, swaying my arms all about my body, sliding to the side, and moving my hips.

I caught Ethan's eyes for a second. Then I looked away.

I noticed that my body was covered in a thin sheet of sweat.

Charlotte stood in front of me.

"Here have one of these," she said.

She handed me a small chocolate.

I love chocolate so I took it from her hand.

I bit into it.

A sweet flavor busted into my mouth.

My eyes widened. I went for another bite.

"Don't eat all of it!" Charlotte exclaimed.

Then she laughed.

Her laugh echoed in my head.

Everything was intensified and looked more beautiful.

I saw a girl that was very beautiful. I blinked. Now I could see her ribcage. I turned around a saw a couple. They looked like they were in an embrace. But I looked closer. The guy held her wrist to his mouth and lapped blood. Her blood was black. She was giggling.

This was wrong.

I saw a girl with wings turn a guy into a fly and then eat him.

I started to panic.

I looked for Ethan, Jessamine, Ava, or Edward.

I got out of the crowd. I got on top of a table and searched for them.

All of a sudden I felt really happy.

Then I saw familiar face.

Ethan!

I made my way towards him.

"Ethan. Something is wrong. I'm scared," I said between breaths.

Ethan stared into my eyes.

"What did you drink?" He asked firmly.

"I didn't drink anything. But... Charlotte gave me a chocolate," I said.

Ethan got a violent look in his eyes. I was scared.

Ethan grabbed my hand and made his way through the crowd.

We found Charlotte.

"What did you give her?!" He exclaimed.

Charlotte smirked.

"Sometimes I make sure people have a lot of fun," she stated innocently.

"What did you give her? Faerie drugs?" Ethan asked.

"Well... Yes. I gave her faerie drugs, " she stated.

"When does it wear off?" Ethan asked.

"A few hours," Charlotte said uninterested.

I got a strange feeling to do something wild.

I slipped from Ethan's grip and climbed a table.

I started dancing on the table.

"Get done from there Violet!" Ethan exclaimed.

I continued to dance. Then I slipped.

I fell into a pair of arms. I looked into my hero's eyes. It was Ethan.

"My hero," I muttered.

I giggled.

I noticed that my face was close to Ethan's.

I felt him leaning in.

I was close enough to see green flecks in his gray eyes.

I could feel his breath on my face.

I could see myself lean in and kissing him.

But I knew that if I kissed him I would fall in love with him eventually.

Our noses were touching.

I got out of Ethan's arms.

"We should find the others," Ethan said.

"Yes," I agreed.

We found the others.

"I'm hungry," I muttered.

"I know a great place," Jessamine said.

"Where?" I asked.

"You'll see," she said.
