After first period was over, I went out to the hall to see Gwen leaning against the lockers, waiting for me. She was reading a book, it's something she always has with her.
"Ready for gym?" I asked her.
Her head jerked up from the book she had in her hands, "Not really." She frowned.
I smiled and patted her back, "It's okay. We don't have to do anything on our first day anyways."
We started to walk towards the gym.
"We're seniors.. You'd think these underclassmen would move out of our way when we walk down the hall." She said as she nearly bumped into a kid.
I rolled my eyes, "I know. They need to part like the red sea." I waved my arms back and forth.
The bell rang as we reached the gym. We stopped at the doors and looked at each other.
"I hate gym." Gwen sighed, "Too much moving."
"Okay, now you're starting to sound like me." I laughed as we went into the gym.
We went over to our teacher, who was taking attendance.
"What are your names?" The teacher asked as we approached him.
"I'm Gwen Brandon and this is Juliet Parker." Gwen smiled as she spoke.
"Why were you guys late?"
"Well, we go to school with about a thousand kids, do you really think we can get from class to class without someone stopping in front of us, or without someone walking slow?" I stated.
"I don't like your attitude."
"It's not a 'tude, I was just saying."
"One more re-mark like that and I will send you to the office. You don't want that on your first day, now would ya?"
"Maybe I would."
His face grew cold, "Out. Now."
"Or what?" I put my hands on my hips and glared at him.
"I will get an administrator to walk you to the office."
"Oh, I am so scared."
I don't usually act this immature. But if you piss me off... Well.. Then I do act immature.
"Just go Juliet." Gwen whispered to me, "It's not worth it."
I sighed and looked at her, "Fine. To save you the trouble." I held my hands up in defense as I started to walk backwards. I turned around and left the gym, "Fucking asshole." I said under my breath.
I went to the office and standing in there was none other than Mr. Warner. As soon as I went through the doors of the office, he looked over at me and gave me a smile.
"What are you doing in here?" He asked as I walked up beside him.
"I got in trouble, by the gym teacher.. Whatever his name is." I sighed and shook my head, "I apparently gave him an attitude."
"Mmmm, some teachers get a little too pissy over those kind of things." He gave me a wink, "Let's just hope you'll be out of here by fourth period."
"Oh, I count on it." I said as I started to walk to the principle's office.
I opened the door of the office. My principle looked up at me.
"Uh, hi.. I'm here because the gym teacher thought I was giving him an attitude." I said as I walked in the office.
"What's your name?"
"Juliet Paker."
"Well, Miss. Parker. Since Mr. Shirts didn't call me, you're free to go."
"His last name is Shirts?" I scrunched my nose.
"Yeah." He grabbed a piece of paper and signed it, "Here's your pass." He handed the paper to me.
I left his office and headed out to the lobby. Mr. Warner was in the lobby, just leaving the office a second before me.
"Looks like I'll be in class after all." I said as I waved the pass in front of me, "Are you teaching this period?"
"Nope, why?"
"I don't want to go back to gym... Mr. Shirts might have a cow if he sees that I'm back so quick. Mind if I come and chill in your class till the end of this period?"
"Alright. Don't tell anyone. I could get in trouble."
"Yes sir." I saluted him as I ran up beside him.
We walked to his classroom. Once we were inside his class, I sat at the desk next to his. I took out my notebook. The one that has song lyrics, stories and poems written in.
"What's that?" He asked looking at the notebook.
"Song lyrics, poems, short stories.. Things like that."
"Oh, you write music? Mind if I hear something?"
"Kind of."
"Why?" He chuckled.
"I can't sing."
"Ah, so what! Neither can I! Come on, just one song?"
I sighed, "Okay. Just for you."
After I sang him the song, he gave my a slow applause.
"That was amazing. It was deep. And you can too sing, liar." He smiled at me.
"Thanks. I've been writing since I was eight. I never knew my song lyrics were that good though."
"You should be famous."
"Nahh."
"I mean it. I think you're that good."
"Really?"
"Trust me." He smiled again.
I sat back in my seat and read through one of my poems, "What about you?"
"What about me?"
"What do you like to do in your free time?"
"Grade class work."
I laughed, "I mean, not school related."
He smiled, "Well I, play guitar, I do art, I swim."
"You swim?" My lips curled to a smile.
He nodded his head, "Yes I do. Why do you seem so shocked?"
"Oh no reason. I just didn't look at you as a swimming kind of person."
"Never judge a book by it's cover."
I propped my feet on the desk, "What else do you like to do?"
"Well, I like to sleep."
"Me too. Me too." I laughed.
The bell rang for third period. Yay, art time!
"See you forth period." I said as I stood up, "I have art now." I smiled big, "Too bad you don't teach that, since you said you like to do art."
He smiled and patted my back as he walked me to the door.
