After lunch and after art, it was finally time for English. I met up with Gwen and we linked arms and headed to class.

"Pick a good seat, I know you're always bad at that, miss. I must sit in the front." Gwen pushed me.

"That was only once, and that was in health class, I don't know what the big deal was."

"True, there were people doing drugs a few rows behind us. I don't understand how the teacher didn't notice."

"We noticed."

We reached the hallway. Right away, we saw Mr. Warner standing in front of his class, holding a stack of papers.

"Great, it's our first day, and he already is giving us work." I sighed as we walked up to him.

He handed Gwen a paper. He then smiled at me as he held a paper out.

"You're already giving us work?" I asked as I took the paper.

"It's just your outline. I would never give you guys work on the first day."

"Good." I smiled as I went into the classroom. I took a seat next to Gwen, in the back corner.

After the bell rang, Mr. Warner came walking into the room, "Good afternoon, I am Mr. Warner, and if you're going to give me hell, then leave now." He looked around the room to see no one get up and leave, "Alright, cool. The papers I handed out to you guys, is your student outline, please get it signed by a parent or guardian and bring it in next class, please."

"So, what are we going to do today, Mr. Warner?" Gwen asked.

"Well, I have nothing for you guys to do.. So, draw me something, anything." He looked over at me and smiled, "It has to be school appropriate though."

Some kids in the class groaned.

"He wants me to draw him a picture of Hendrix." I said to Gwen, "He told me during lunch earlier when you walked away."

"Do you think you can do it?"

"He didn't say it had to be perfect." I grinned, "But it won't look like shit, I'm some-what good at drawing people."

"Okay.. Have fun with that." She got a piece of paper out of her folder.

"What are you going to draw?"

"I'll draw... A snake."

"You and your love for snakes, goodness."

She laughed, "I might be buying a snake this weekend."

"Cool, maybe I'll buy one too."

"We can have snake play dates!" She squealed.

I laughed, "God you're so weird."

"But you love me."

Mr. Warner came over to Gwen and I, he sat in the empty seat in front of me.

"Hello." I said.

"Are you going to draw me Jimi?" He smiled.

"Yes, of course." I smiled back.

"I'll hang it up right by my desk."

"You've got to frame it first." I joked.

"Oh of course I will." He chuckled.

I grabbed a piece of paper out of my folder, "I'm not the best at drawing people, I'll tell you that."

"I think you draw amazing.. I saw some of your drawings in that notebook of yours."

"Yeah," I smiled, "But those weren't people. They were mostly animals."

"We're all animals."

I laughed, "That is true."

We were both quiet for a second. I wanted to say something, so he wouldn't get up and walk away. Or, so he wouldn't think I'm a boring person. But nothing came to mind. Well, not anything good. I kept thinking of really stupid things to say, but I kept my mouth shut. I didn't want him to think I'm some nut job.

"You know what I think?" He finally said before everything became very awkward.

"What?" I smiled.

"I think you should try-out for the school's talent show next month."

I scrunched my nose, "Uh, no thanks, ew." I laughed.

"I'm serious," He chuckled, "I think you could win. I heard the first place prize is a hundred bucks."

"Really? I think the person who won last year, got a bucket of oatmeal as their prize."

"Yeah really! Would I lie to you?"

"I don't know. We've only met a few hours ago."

"True." He smiled.

"I'll do it.. If you play guitar for me."

"Okay, that's easy."

"On stage."

"You mean, like, help you with the talent show?"

I nodded my head, "We would definitely win. And, I would split the prize with you, don't worry."

"I don't think teachers are aloud to enter."

"Well, what if I say, you're my cousin? They'd have to make an exception."

He smiled, "I don't think so."

"Trust me, I'm great at sweet talking people. I'm also good at lying."

"I'll keep that noted."

"Now, I wouldn't lie to you."

He gave me an, "Oh really?" look.

"Trust me." I laughed.
