Adoption day.

Today is adoption day. Not that it matters, to me at least. I'm not going to even be an option for the future adopters. I hope someone adopts Amanda, though. But not someone nice, some one that hates kids. I want Amanda to get a taste of her own medicine.

I stretch as I make my bed. I place my Totoro stuffed animal on its throne, other wise known as my dusty pillow. I throw on my Undertale shirt and some regular jeans. I lace up my converse and plop on my burgundy beanie.

I reach for the door handle out of habit and stop myself. There's no use, it's still locked. I finally get out of here tomorrow, which is good, as I'm starting to run out of food.

I eat my last bagel I had saved and sit by the window sill. Adoption day starts any minute now. I like watching the families walk in and then walk out an hour later with a child of there choice.

I open my old battered copy of Harry Potter. I've read it so many times that the librarian has asked me to just keep it. A trashed book for a trash person, as Amanda and her gang like to put it. If only Hagrid would come and take me away to Hogwarts....

I'm interrupted from my thoughts as I see the first couple enter the orphanage. I press my face against the window to try and get a better look. I sigh as they walk out of view.

I sit, hugging my knees, watching couples come and go. It's getting pretty boring. But then, something, no, someone, catches my eye. We make eye contact through the dirty window before they walk in the orphanage. And my only thought is: Holy shit! That's Dan and Phil!

Phil's POV:

"Dan, wake up! Cmon! The adoption day starts at 10 o'clock, we're gonna be late!" I say, shaking Dans shoulder. He flips me off, but nun the less, he gets up. Reluctantly, but he still gets up.

I get myself ready and wait by the window. I peek from behind the curtain, and sure enough, the girl is still by the window.

"She still there?" I hear Dans voice say from behind me. I jump a little.

"Uh-yeah." I respond as Dan laces up his black shoes. I look at my watch. 10:24. Fashionably late, you could say.

We haven't told our fans that we might adopt this girl. We don't want them to hate us if we don't. I grab my phone and my wallet and Dan does the same. With that, we walk out the door and across the street.

Once we are in front of the orphanage, we glance up at the window. We can see the girl, and I think she can see us, too. We walk through the door and are immediately greeted by an unpleasant smell. Dan fake gags and I shoot him a look, as if to say be nice.

A tall, thin woman comes stumbling over to us.

"Welcome to Miss Hattie's Home for Orphaned Girls! I'm Miss Hattie, the owner of this place." She says. We can smell alcohol in her breath. Ah jeez....

"We would like to meet a girl, we don't know her name but she looks about 10-15 at most." Dan says. Taking a step back as Miss Hattie almost a falls from her heels.

"Ah, yes!" She goes over to an speaker and says" Attention all girls from the ages of 10-15, report in the hall immediately."

Girls come running in and Dan and I take a step back. We scan all of there faces but we can't seem to find the one girl from the window.

"Well, choose a girl you'd like to interview." Miss Hattie prompts. Not wanting to seem rude, I ask to interview one girl that looks to be around the girl in the Windows age. She has blonde locks down to her mid back and wears a crop top. We already know that we aren't adopting this girl. I can tell by the way he walks that she is quite the diva.

We all sit around a table.
"Um-hi, I'm Phil and this is Dan." I awkwardly greet.
"I'm Amanda Grace, and I'm 14." She says. Her posture is perfect and it kinda intimidates me. Calm down, Phil, she's 14, like WTF.

"So tell us some of your likes and dislikes." Dan prompts.

"I like shoes and shopping and makeup. I don't like video games or Star Wars or any books, really." She says with a perfect smile.

"I think that will be all." I say as I begin to stand up.

"Fine," Amanda says, with a stick up attitude," I didn't want to be adopted by two gay freaks anyways!" Then she catwalks out of the room and slams the door. I stand in shock while Dan almost falls laughing on the floor.

Once he's recovered, he clears his throat. "Well, she was pleasant." He says, sarcastically of course.

"Sure, but she wasn't the window sill girl."

We walk out of the room as find Miss Hattie.

"Any luck?" She asks, slightly more drunk than before.

I glance at the selection of girls.
"Are you sure these are the only girls?" I question. She pauses to think. It looks like she having a hard time.

"Ugh, well there is one more, but you dot want her. She's a freak. " Miss Hattie sneers.

"Can we speak to her?" Dan asks.

She shrugs and points up the stairs. We walk up the creaky stairs and listen for any sound of life behind to doors.

"Lemme out, cmon please! I'm starving and I gotta pee!!! Miss Hattie, please!" I hear from behind one door. The girl pounds on the door from the other side. Dan and I share I look before I reach out and open the door.

I hear a click. I glance at Dan and he looks confused. It was locked? Why?

We open the door to reveal a tall girl with light brown hair and lighter blue eyes. She wears a beanie over her choppy mid-length hair. She also wears an Undertale shirt. In other words, sea the window sill girl.

"Your Dan and Phil." She mutters. We nod.
"Can we come in." Now it's her turn to nod. She gestures for us to come inside. We do and she closes the door.

"Um, hi. My names Lori Anderson. Oh, and I'm 13 year old." She says. She smiles at us when we smile at her.

"What are your likes and dislikes?" Dan prompts. We already like this girl much better than Amanda.

"Well, I like all video games and I love music and books. Oh I also really like muffins." She says. We laugh as she talks about muffins.

"Though I am starting to get kinda sick of them, as I've been eating nothing but muffins and bagels for a week." She adds absentmindedly.

"Wait, you were locked in this room all week." Dan asks, confused.

"Uh-yeah... Sorry, did I mess this up? I've only ever had like 1 adoption interview before." She says, wide eyed.

"No, it ok," I reassure her," you're doing fine."

She nods.
"Oh and I dislike.... Um... Well I dislike Amanda Grace." She says. We laugh as she says this.

"Us too." I say. She smiles.

"Well, we better get going. Thank you." Dan says. I was having a good time, but I glance at my watch and we've been here for nearly an hour.

We wave goodbye to Lori as we leave the room. Miss Hattie comes up to say something, most likely about how Lori's a freak, but we stop her.

"We'll take her." Dan says. He didn't ask me but he didn't need to. Lori was an awesome kid.

Miss Hattie looks shocked.
"Her name is Amanda, not Lori. I'm sure your mistaken, nobody wants Lori."

"Well, we do." I say with finality. I'm sick of people badmouthing her. She's only a child.

"Ok then." Said Miss Hattie as she escorted us to he office where we filled out all the proper paper work.

"Would Lori Anderson please report to my office." Miss Hattie slurred. She slouched down in her chair as she waited. Dan and I smile at each other. We were adopting a child.
