Bullet's Hero

Chapter 4.

Once Holder bursted through the double door entrance at the police station, he ran around looking for Linden and asking a couple of deputies on her whereabouts. They pointed him to the direction of the evidence room. He sprinted towards the tiny room, looking at his phone and looking up. Only a couple minutes left. The short drive became a long one with there being traffic jam and a car crash on the highway. But at last, he reached where Linden was. But before he went in, he set his phone on the floor outside by the door. Could be bugged. Maybe that's how Chase knew.  He'd have to check later. Then he opened the door. Linden was standing there holding a plastic bag, but then turned around and faced Holder.

"Holder, what was that call about?"

"Okay. So remember Carl Gunner?" Holder questioned. Linden then nodded.

"Well. He had a partner apparently and his name was Chase. And he wants him back."

"Why would we give him Carl?" Linden asked knowing where this was going.

"Chase has Bullet. He told me every two hours that I didn't give him Carl, he would give Bullet a new injury. " Holder explained the rest of the story.

"How long has it been?"

"Three hours and-" Holder looked at his phone. His ten minutes were up.

"No."

"What?" Linden asked with worry in he voice. "What is it?"

"Four hours. Bullet has another injury again. Again because of me!" Rage swallowed Holder and he swung his arm across the table, knocking all the evidence from previous cases to the marble floor. He collapsed to the ground holding his shaking head. Linden crouched in front of the man and placed a warm arm around him, comforting him.

"It's not your fault. None of this is." Linden soothed.

"Yes it is. If I didn't argue with Bullet she wouldn't have left and she certainly wouldn't have been kidnapped and bleeding right now!!" Argued Holder.

"We'll get her back. We have to. Come on. Tell me your plan."

Holder looked at Linden who took that as a sign and help him stand up. Holder then began to go over the plan he's been working on during the drive.

"So. If I can get a prisoner transfer, I could get Carl out. Who we then take to Chase. But we'll have to go in two different cars. That way, you can be behind Chase, and then I'll arrive. But I'll make sure Chase gives me Bullet first, so I won't give him Carl. And if all fails... you're there behind him if he tries anything."

"Sounds good. Let's get going."

Holder looked down at his watch and hoped Linden and he would get there in time.
