Ring ring. Ring ring.

Holder's phone rung and interrupted his and Linden's conversation. When he saw Bullet was calling, he felt like he should answer but then he remembered their earlier argument. All the cruel and vicious things he said. I'm not your friend!! I'll bury you so deep in the foster system, you'll never get out!! But Linden jolted Holder out of his thoughts and said,

"Answer it. She probably has a new lead."

He took a few seconds to think and then hit the answer button. He needed to fix this.

"Bullet, hey I'm sor-" But before he could get a full sentence out, Bullet interrupted him.

"Holder! Holder someone's after me!"

Holder immediately stood up with alarm and fear and went to grab his keys and gun. He began to turn the ignition on in his car and realized he needed an address.

"Where are you?"

"Fifth Street turning left!" Bullet shouted through the other end.

"Okay I'm on my way. Just keep running and don't slow down!" Holder instructed as he begun to speed to the location in the middle of the dull night. He put Bullet on speaker and nearly had a heart attack as he heard something strike something and the teenager scream in what was clearly pure pain.

"Bullet? Bullet!" Holder practically screamed into the phone. He heard footsteps and a crackling noise like someone was picking the phone up. He was starting to wish and regret being so mean to Bullet and kicking her out of the police station.

I shouldn't have yelled at her. She would've been safer at the station than out on the streets. You knew there was still a killer out there! Gosh I'm such an idiot! Now she's gonna get hurt and maybe worse because of how stupid I am!

Then he abruptly stopped his train of thought when he realized there was another person other than Bullet talking through the phone.

"If you want to see your little friend here returned safely to your care unscathed, then I strongly recommend you to release one of your prisoners.  Just know that if you don't, your friend that thinks you hate her, will die a painfully slow death." The other line nastily directed.

It was a male voice for sure and Holder could hear the tire noises of cars in the background. If he released the prisoner, he could lose his job. But if he didn't, he would lose Bullet. He was caught between two decisions and didn't know what to do. But after he narrowed it down it seemed simple. His job? Or an innocent life? That was a no brainer considering that innocent life was his friend's.

"Who?" He stated and sealed his decision. No turning back now.

"Carl Gunner. The finest of them all! You locked him up, your gonna be the one to release him."

Holder remembered locking Carl up. Carl was accused of identity theft and murder. Which he was convicted rightfully for, guilty. He also remembered his partner in crime that was never found. Chase Charlson.

Carl killed a young girl's life just for his own entertainment. If he lets him go, a family's justice gets unraveled and their daughter's murderer is free and might slaughter another human being. But he couldn't let Bullet die. He already almost lost Linden. He can't come close to losing Bullet too.

"Where do you want me to bring Carl?"

"How about where your partner almost died? Maybe death's door will open for this young women like it would've happened to Detective Linden."

And then the line disconnected which was followed by an immediate text message ring from an unknown number.

Every two hours you fail to deliver my package, Bullet here gets a new injury. Tick tock.
