Fighting with family is hard. Fighting family to the death is even harder. I didn't want to hurt my aunt. Really, I sort of used to like her, even if I had never met her. Yeah, I thought the way she handled the Titan's rise to power a little unwell, but Uncle Ouranos had gone crazy so he didn't deserve to rule anymore
But now, as black blade met brown, I knew that family fighting family was never going to be easy. I had no choice though. I had to defeat her. While she had far more experience, I was naturally gifted in swordsmanship.
Archery took me forever to learn but a sword, it was but an extension of my arm, an ark of destruction for those unlucky enough to be pitted against me. And it showed, as my aunt was steadily losing ground. She was good, by any means, but I was better.
The one thing I didn't know, was what she was planning. No doubt she was going to use some kind of trickery. I just hadn't figured it out yet. I would soon learn that I wish I hadn't decided to challenge her out right. I should have killed her before she even knew what was happening.
A scream filled the air. One that I couldn't help but recognize. It was my blonde haired goddess that owned my heart. Gration, the Giant meant to oppose Artemis stood there holding her in his hands.
I whirled on Gaia. "Let her go," I growled.
"Ah, ah, ah. I don't think you are in any position to negotiate."
Faster than she could react, my sword was at her throat. "I believe this is what we call a stalemate. Release her or you die. I swear on my mother that if you don't, I will hunt every one of your children that you care oh so deeply about, to the ends of you, and kill them. And when they reform, I'll do it again, and again, and again. I'll kill them as many times as I have to before I feel my thirst for vengeance has been slacked. So help me aunt..."
She looked at me. I knew she knew that I would follow through with that threat. But a flicker in her eyes told me she didn't care. Gration squeezed and my love was gone in a burst of golden ichor. I roared and my sword went through Gaia's neck, but Gration had already been absorbed back into the earth beneath him.
I saw nothing but blood red. Giants and monsters alike we burnt away in my fury. The gods were just lucky enough to have Athena. If not for her quick thinking to have them all flash out of there with their demigods in tow, they too would have been obliterated. Even still, there were demigods and humans still caught up in my anger, and while I felt bad, I had no care. I cared for nothing but revenge. And by my mother's name I would have it.
