Chapter 17
Cameron’s POV
Seeing them sitting around the table, being an actual family, made me sick. Elena didn’t deserve to be sitting there; she deserved to be back in my room, locked away. Her little lap dog deserved to be dead, like Kaya and her sister. Sure it hurt to kill Kaya, but she deserved it, especially after she betrayed me. Her sister was just collateral damage, kind of like wrong place wrong time. Wind whipped past me, rustling the emptying trees. Sitting here behind Raleigh’s house my anger was building. Everything inside of me wanted to kill him now. I wanted to squeeze the life right out of his body, he didn’t deserve the land he was oh so casually dining on.
I looked to my right and saw Abey, who was crouched in a bush. If I was going to attack, I was going to do this right. They knew I wanted the alpha for myself, but the rest were just collateral damage. His mother, father, brother, aunt, and two cousins could die. I wanted Elena to watch as I killed Raleigh slowly, wanted her to see the life drain from her protective lap dog. After he died, she would have no protection and then if I wanted to, I could really fuck with her mind. The amount of fun that would be was overwhelming, she would have nobody to run to, and that would make her my puppet.
Looking to my left, I saw Brice, leaning against a tree. My mind wondered where Elan was. I hoped he was somewhere close. If I was going to attack, I needed all of my pack. Everybody was needed to be present. I stood up from where I was sitting and breathed in the air. Snow started to fall onto my hair and my coat, causing me to snicker.
“What’s so funny?” Brice asked.
“The snow,” I answered.
“How is it funny?” Abey asked.
“Fire and ice,” I replied, watching a flake fall on my hand, and then crushing it.
“Where’s the fire?” Brice asked, looking at me, puzzled.
“My anger,” I growled, then snickered. If everything went to plan, this was going to be a fun night.
“I still don’t understand why you’re so angry at this boy,” Brice laughed. “He’s a simple alpha.” I shook my head, my rage building. There were many reasons I was mad, but I pondered whether to reveal them.
“She’s supposed to be mine,” I growled, admittedly.
“What do you mean yours?” Abey asked. I could hear the puzzlement in his voice.
“Her father and my father knew each other when he taught in New York. I would see her occasionally, and over time I guess you could say I developed a crush. Then I had to move here, when my father got fired. After that, my parents split and I ended up with my dad on the Indian reservation. Then I got caught up in this werewolf thing,” I spoke.
“She was never yours Cameron,” Brice said.
“Don’t fucking say that,” I growled.
“So that’s why you wanted to keep her locked up, for your own benefit?” Abey asked, getting angry.
“Don’t get angry at me, you must forget who is sitting on your people’s lands right now,” I reminded him. My anger was growing, my face was transforming every time I talked. My mind wandered to what Brice said and admittedly it was the truth, which angered me.
“All of this is about a crush you’re still not over!” Abey bellowed, his anger seething through his words. I could hear him get up and make his way over to me. I rushed towards him, picked him up by his neck, and pinned him to a tree.
“It’s more than that. This fucker here is sitting on land that you and I should be controlling. Land is power Abey. And also I’m the alpha, if I really wanted her, I could have her,” I paused.
“Yeah, because after you kidnapped her she’s really gonna fall for you,” Brice commented. He shifted in the position he was standing.
“This right now is about eliminating Raleigh and taking more power. Elena will meet her fate,” I explained, letting Abey down. He looked at me with rage, as if he was ready to pounce. “Now get ready, we have stuff to do.” I made my way towards the house, it was now or never.
