Disrespect

The next day I was sent straight back to classes. I moaned and groaned but really, I needed to learn as much as possible. Then maybe I would be free from the knowing glances and whispers that surrounded me as I was carried back to my room by Hunter.

"I don't have any uniform." I looked up at Hunter's sharp jawline, watching it shift as he talked.
"Kaylee and I spent a long time choosing your uniforms while you were sick." I could tell by the angle of his jaw that he was smirking and felt a brief pang of worry at the thought of what he could've chosen.
It subsided quickly. Kay wouldn't have let him buy anything crazy - would she?

"Where do I get them from?"
"I've ordered them and they arrived at your room yesterday afternoon." He avoided my eye as we ascended the stairs leading to our rooms. Girls stopped and stared or 'accidentally' brushed his biceps as he passed. He barely reacted, even when I shifted to glare at the offending girl over his shoulder. I was still scowling when his chest rumbled underneath me.

My frown deepened. "Don't laugh at me." I growled. He chuckled again, blatantly ignoring my increasingly angry expression.
Annoyance flashed in my gut and I squirmed in his arms.
"Let me down!" I squealed as I wriggled but he barely stumbled, turning around to push the dorm door open with his back.

OK then.

Time for stronger action.
I stiffened in his steely arms, forcing my body to stay ramrod straight for a few seconds until Hunter gave me a worried look.
"Again, is this a fit I should worry about?" He rolled his jade eyes. I waited until they came full circle and stopped on my face before giving him a cheeky smile.
The smirk dropped straight off his face.
"Wha-"
I thrashed my limbs, furiously wriggling my torso until he couldn't help but drop me to the carpeted floor. He instinctively reached out for me again. I scrambled to my feet before he could react any further and sprinted along the corridor, not recognising where I was but not particularly caring.
I let my instincts take over, barefoot and giggling as Hunter's enraged yell came from behind me.
It was only when I turned the first corner that I heard the much louder CLOMP CLOMP of his military boots chasing after me. "Jade! Come back here right now!"
I only laughed, truly letting go and reaching my full speed, knowing there was no way he would catch me now, werewolf or not.
Curious faces appeared round doors as they came to investigate the noise, and I giggled as they gasped as I ran past, probably at my speed and their very angry Alpha sprinting along behind me.

I continued through the hallways, still searching for anything familiar. The feeling of freedom after being cooped up for two weeks was euphoric. My muscles were slightly stiff from disuse and I relished in the feeling of stretching my limbs again. The last of the dark cloud over my head dissipated and I giggled aloud again at the breeze caressing my cheeks.
Finally I recognised the staircase that led up to my floor and raced toward it, leaning forward slightly to speed up.
I pumped my arms as I bounded up the stairs two at a time, reaching the 4th floor and turning left into the corridor that my room was on.
5 doors away and I heard the shoes speed up behind me.
4 doors and I squealed, letting the adrenaline at almost being caught enhance my speed still.
3 doors and I was surprised to hear that Hunter was just a breath behind me.
2 doors away and a warm hand grasped my elbow, sending tingles up my arm. Not the bad kind though like I had gotten with Jake or that guy from training. The good kind. The kind that set butterflies in my stomach.
1 door away and the hand tugged me sideways, using my momentum to pull me into a hard chest, butterflies fluttering all the more. We tumbled into Hunter's room, door flying shut behind us.
We were off balance and just as I was about brace myself for the fall, I was shoved against a wall, panting.
A growl was rumbling in Hunter's chest and I looked into his face to see dark eyes staring at me from underneath his eyelashes.
His hands gripped my hips tightly as he leant towards me, still unsteady.
"I don't like it when you run away from me." He growled lowly.
"But it's so fucking fun!" Thinking he was joking, I smirked and rolled my eyes.
