*Four years ago*
"No, you can't do that to Liyana. Why can't you just be happy for me and allow me to choose who I want?" You've chosen everything all my life, why can't I make this one decision for myself?" I angrily asked my mother. She looked at me and said, "why can't you just listen and let that common girl go?, Why must I do everything? I've sat silently for 3 years without bothering you and that girl, but your moving on to life and you can't possible imagine a future with her. Can you?" I looked at my mom and said "Liyana, is more than just a common girl. She completes me mom. She made me the person I am now. She changed me even I didn't know I was changing." I looked at my father and he's just sitting there. I stood up to leave, and thats when dad decided to jump in. "Sit down, Carter." I've never heard my father use his alpha mode, bossy voice once, but hearing him use it to tell me to sit down, made me stop in my tracks and sat back down. I looked at the floor and thought about what Liyana would be doing at this hour. God, for the past three years, she filled me up with happiness and she still does. Her laugh, her smile, her eyes the way her hair falls in front of her eyes when a strand becomes lose from her hair. I love her too much to let her go. I look at my dad and he looks at the floor before looking back up to meet my eyes mirroring his clear blue skies eyes.
" You need to let her go Carter. She can't simply just leave her father's business to run the company with you. And before you say anything else, we've already agreed with Mr and Mrs Briggs that we will merge the company with theirs when you turn 25. The deal will be that both families will benefit because when you turn 25 you and Chelsea will get married ensuring that the company will bloom and still stand." "No, you cant make me do that, you can't choose who I marry." I said jumping to my feet. My dad jumped to his feet and grabbed the collar of my shirt pulling me to him so that we were face to face. "You will do what we tell you to do, or I will personally see to it that Liyana's father lose that hotel of his and make sure that she will never get into any college.I'm not gonna repeat myself, so unless you wanna see Liyana and her family not go through the pain and suffering, I suggest you do what were telling you to. You cut off every ties with that girl and you prepare yourself to make sure that this company stays within the family and its future." The man I looked up to, was just a figment of my imagination, I love Liyana more than anything and I don't wanna be the reason for her and her future to be destroyed. So I nodded my head and kept it down. Dad let go of my shirt and waled about but before saying "End it tomorrow, or she'll suffer and when she knows that it's your fault, she'll never forgive you."
*next day*
I called Liyana to meet me at the Library and she happily replied ok. I love her too much that I knew I had to do what my parents said to do. I don't want to see her suffer, I don't. I remember the first day I saw her, it was like cupid had shot me straight in the face when we collided that day in the school hallway while I was walking to class and she was going to the office. When we collided, I felt sparks flying through my fingers as I grabbed her arm to keep her falling. And when she looked me in the eyes, all I felt was sparkles and zinging that were going through my mind. For 2 weeks I hound her for a date, and when she finally gave in, I knew that I was whipped because I had fallen in love with her from the moment I laid eyes on her.
When I turned the corner of the las t shelf in the library I stopped in my tracks to take in the view that I will never see again after today. All I felt was my heart breaking, yet I didn't want hers to break. She looked up as I walked over, and then she was out of her chair and rushed over jumping into my outstretched arms locking her feet behind my back. I held on to her tight and memorized her curves and the way her body felt against mine. We stood there for a few minutes when she started sliding down to set her feet on the ground. I let go off her but never taking my hands away from her hips which now curvier than last time. Our foreheads touched and I closed my eyes and kissed her with everything I had. I poured my heart into the kiss, giving it everything and every feeling that I got for her. When we stopped to get air, I let go of her waist, took a step back and said "It's over Liyana ". The look on her face was hard to read, I took more steps back and turned around and walked away without looking back because I knew that if I did nothing will stop me from comforting her and taking her in my arms. The last thing I heard from her was a sob that broke my heart to a million more pieces.
*Graduation day*
The ceremony was great. I actually enjoyed it, but most of all, I got see Liyana again. When she walked across the stage to get her diploma, I took in her features and I was surprised that she had grown more beautiful and more mature. I noticed that there was something more to her than I can tell. The way she walked, the look of pure happiness on her face made it hard for me to look away. When she walked down to sit, her eyes flashed with pain and hurt when she locked with me. And for that brief moment, I knew that I had lost her forever. I looked away and the ceremony dragged on for another half an hour until the announcer declared us graduates. We all stood up and threw our hats in the air. As mom and dad were trying to get me to have a few pictures with Chelsea and her parents, I quickly maneuvered around my parents and told them that I'll be back. I hurried over to the spot that I saw Liyana and her parents stood at only to find it empty. I looked around some more until I realize that I couldn't see her or her parents anywhere and a raven black haired girl anywhere. Defeated, I walked back to mom and dad and they led me to a brand new black, BMW X5.
*Old man Bill's gas station-few days after graduation*
I pulled up to old man Bill's gas station and parked at a pump across from a brand new black Ram 1500. I put in the pump and turned and stared at the truck. The color on the truck reminded me of Liyana and her love for black. I stared at the truck for a few minutes when the door to the store slam shut, I turned around to look and a raven black haired girl stepped out with two bags brimming with what looks like sodas and chips. I looked away from her to the pump in my car noticed it was full and started to take it out when the sound of the truck roaring to life surprised me. I looked around while fumbling with gas cover and my eyes connect with familiar green eyes that had captivated me for the past 3 years. Imagine my surprise when those familiar green eyes registered in my mind and i took in the picture before me: Liyana was sitting there looking at me with shocked and fear on her face. She was saying something to the girl when the girl jumped out of the truck and removed the pump hose that was still stuck in their gas tank. I quickly screw the gas cover in and shut the little door and turned around to see the truck moving forward. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me and right when I stood where the truck was at seconds before the truck was already maybe 25 or 30 feet away going slow but not stopping. I dropped to my knees and yelled "LIYANA". The girl who stole my heart the day we bumped into each other in the hallway was gone, and I will never see her again.
