*Chapter V*
She dragged his limp body over the hill to a temple. Taking the knife from his side resulted in major blood loss so she ripped off the bottom of her white dress and lovingly cared to his wounds. She lit the fire in the middle of the temple to keep the warm.
A familiar voice called out to her. "Zöe, daughter of Pirithous, You look good. A little stressed but not too bad."
"If you're not here to help me please go away."
The man held up a ring and the golden reflection flickered in Zöe eyes. That ring!! Desperation, fear, and relief swirled through Zöe's head like the scent of incense in the temple.
"Demetrius? Is that you?" Zöe whimpered.
"Yes Zöe."
"I need your help with Philipp, please. If we don't help him soon he'll die and then the assassin will find us if we don't hurry."
"We need to find him a healer." replied Demetrius
"Let's pray to Asclepius, the god of medicine. Maybe he would bless us with a healer for Philipp."
A strong storm was rolling in the distance booming like Zeus was angry!
Zöe urgently gave Demetrius a hug and told him she'd felt empty without him, then they proceeded to chant in Greek:
Or in English..
"Silent Thalia we to th' Earth compare,
For She by music never doth ensnare;
After the Hypodorian Clio sings,
Persephone likewise doth strike the bass strings;
Calliope also doth chord second touch,
Using the Phrygian; Mercury as much:
Terpsichore strikes the third, and that rare,
The Lydian music makes so Venus fair.
Melpomene, and Titan do with a grace
The Dorian music use in the fourth place.
The fifth ascribed is to Mars the God
Of war, and Erato after the rare mode
Of th' Phrygians, Euterpe doth also love
The Lydian, and sixth string; and so doth Jove.
Saturn the seventh doth use with Polymny,
And causeth the Mixed Lydian melody.
Urania also doth the eighth create,
And music Hypo-Lydian elevate."
The storm was nearing and their gap of time to help Philipp was closing in.
The rain started to pour and it looked like the gods didn't want Philipp to live. The fire went out. Demetrius suggested leaving Philipp but Zöe resisted. All of a sudden an image appeared in the flames. Her voice echoed through the temple and she said, "Hail, Zöe. Do not be afraid. I am Persephone, the librarian who deceased after I agreed to protect you. You meant a great deal to Philipp and now his life is in your hands. I have a proposal for you.
"Yes, Madam Persephone What is your proposal?"
Her fiery figure leaned in right next to Zöe's ear and whispered deep into Zöe's soul "I will heal him... If you take a package from Demetrius' bag. He stole it from someone close to me and now I need it back. Will you help me? And in return I help Philipp?"
"Bu..but!" Zöe stuttered. "Demetrius, we were proposed until the military told me he had died and they implied Philipp was dead, also. I cannot do this to him."
"Very well." Calmly responded Persephone. "It is Philipp's blood on YOUR hands, not mine."
"FINE!! FINE...." Zöe looked over her shoulder and saw her love, Demetrius, tending to Philipp wishing there were another way out. "I will do it. When will Philipp be healed?"
"I will keep him stable, but not fully recovered. Once it is done he will be returned fully healthy."
Persephone vanished and Zöe felt the cold chill of reality run down her spine.
