we finally reached Ashton's house, which was very close to Luke's. I stopped by the car driveway of the house, not finding the need to escort him as far as the doorsteps.
we stood facing each other when we came to a stop. "how'll you get home?"
" I don't know I was thinking of using my legs"
"fascinating, I would've went for my hands" sarcasm was clearly all over the place
"funny ashton, funny" we both laughed lightly
"maybe I should walk you home c'mon let's go" just as he was about to pass by me, I lightly held him by his forearm. his body immediately tensed after I touched him and I awkwardly put my hand down.
which caused a wave of guilt to crash over me, I bet I just made him feel uncomfortable. deciding to ignore my thoughts I continued talking.
" I've been living here my whole life, I can walk on my own"
"of course you can" he rolled his eyes "it's just getting really late"
"I've been also walking home at times like these since I was 13 Irwin, 13"
"just type in my number and tell me once you get home" with that, he raised his arms in the air indicating he gave up on arguing with me. I mentally patted myself on the back for that and added his number to my contacts.
"goodbye Ashton" i said while extend the 'e'
"it's a see you later not a goodbye" he said while emphasizing the words see you later
I looked at him in a puzzled way, not because I didn't understand but because I was surprised he thought of it like that.
he knew I didn't need an explanation because all he did was say goodnight before disappearing into his house.
