"Meera?" I heard a voice say.
"Can you hear us?" I heard my mothers concerned voice say. I felt my eyes start to open slightly making me look at the white walls. A machine beeping came into my hearing and I squeezed my hand into a fist and then relaxed it again. Then I noticed 16 pairs of eyes on me, one pair of eyes was missing. I knew it, I could feel it. My eyes were fully adjusted and I was looking around for Raj. He wasn't in the room, he wasn't here. I felt myself rising and realized that a doctor was raising my bed.
"Meera? Can you hear us" the doctor said staring at my blank emotionless face. I nodded my head and everyone sighed in relief. I could hear but I felt myself unable to speak. What happened was truly terrifying... the last thing I remember was Sameer walking over to Raj with a gun. Then. Darkness.
"My baby" I finally spit out. My baby!
"Your baby is fine, we ran a couple tests and your baby is perfectly healthy" the doctor said as a smile tugged her lips. I sighed in relief and placed my hands on my stomach.
"The police will want to talk to you Meera" my mom said looking concerned at me.
"I'm sorry we weren't there!" My dad said close to tears.
"It's not your fault papa" I said reassuring him.
"I'll be back in a bit to do a scan on your head" the doctor said and walked out of the room. I bit my lip and was dying to know where Raj was. The words to ask about him wouldn't reach my lips and the tension in the room broke my heart even more. Finally I sucked up enough courage and promised myself not to cry whether the result was good or bad.
"Raj... where is he?" I said with my voice coming out unsteady. Everyone's expression was blank, no emotion. I panicked when no one spoke and just stared at me like I was crazy.
"Where is he!" I shouted as a tear rolled down my face.
"After you passed out..." Kabir said cracking his knuckles.
"Sameer was about to shoot Raj, when the tables turned. Raj shot Sameer. Sameer is dead, and the mafia he had going is now in jail. But they didn't go before giving Raj a fight, they fought Raj and he took some pretty nasty punches... He got stitches and is waiting to be aloud to see you." Arush said explainingly.
"You... you mean?" I stuttered as a smiled plastered on my face.
"Yes Meera, he's very much alive" his mom said smiling. I felt tears of happiness running down my cheeks and everyone looked happy. I felt happy. Sameer was dead... no more of that asshole. Thank god.
"You guys look like you got beaten a bit too" I laughed out wiping away my tears. Raj's siblings, even his sisters and mine had some kind of mark on them. Some more then others but you know what I mean.
"That bastard tried to kill us!" Anshuman said looking enraged.
"He's dead now, no need to worry" I heard a voice say. It wasn't Raj's brothers or my parents nor Raj's parents. Everyone including me darted their eyes towards the door.
"Good morning sunshine, how are you feeling" Raj smiled. I felt tears of joy stream down my face as he walked over to me... well limped. He sat down on the side of my bed and locked his eyes with mine.
"We'll leave you guys alone" Raj's dad said and everyone rushed out of the room. I couldn't stop smiling. Yeah his face was a bit banged up but he saved his own life, he saved my life, he saved us all.
"Raj!" I cried as I crashed into his warm welcoming arms. He wrapped his arms around me and I felt a smile on his lips as he nuzzled his head in my neck. He pulled away and smiled at me. It was like that world around us stopped and time was frozen.
"Your safe now Meera, hamesha and forever" he smiled. I smiled back and couldn't resist him anymore. I smashed my lips against his and he wrapped his arms around me pulling him closer. The IV in my hand pulled me back and laughed as I tried to move. I kissed him passionately loving how his lips pressed against mine. I felt another tear fall from my eyes as I cupped his cheeks in my hands. I pulled away as my lungs started giving out.
"I thought I almost lost you again" I sighed not making eye contact with him. He lifted my chin so I looked at him.
"That bastard couldn't tear me from your life no matter how hard he tried, look what happened to him? Now your stuck with me forever." The last word. Forever, Plastered a smile on my lips.
"Forever?" I smiled.
"Forever." Raj said closing his eyes and smiling.

3 Months later

"Your supposed to be downstairs" I said raising my eyebrows.
"But I don't want to deal with them yet" Raj whined nuzzling his head in my neck.
"Their your family Raj, and soon they will be my family too" I said rubbing his back smiling.
"But baby!" He whined like a four year old.
"Ok! I'll go with you" I said giving up and he brought his face from my neck to my lips in not even a nanosecond. I pulled away and smiled at him.
"How will I deal with you?" I laughed and intwined our fingers together.
"You won't have to because You'll have Geeta to take care of" he smiled and I laughed before leaving the bedroom. We walked down the stairs and into the crowd of people. Everyone was dressed up beautifully. I was adorned with jewelry while Raj was plain and simple.
"Raj! Meera!" A preppy voice said from behind us. We stopped and turned around and saw Preeti, she smiled and ran up to us.
"I'm so happy for you guys! Finally it's happening!" She giggled and pulled Raj into a hug then me.
"Thanks for coming Preeti" Raj said smiling at her.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world" she laughed out.
"Gotta go find Prateek, see you soon!" Preeti said disappearing into the crowd of family. We walked outside into the backyard and my parents along with Raj's parents were setting up very last minute touches. They all looked over to us and smiled.
"You guys ready?" Raj's dad said giving us both a hug. Raj and his father reconciled after Raj almost died... for the second time... oops!
"Ready as we ever will be" I smiled as we took my fathers blessings. My mom and Raj's mom loved embarrassing us so we kinda skipped that process.
"Alicia, go tell everyone we are ready to start please" I said and sent my sister away. I looked at Raj who didn't have a drop of nervousness in him. I stood in front of him and he looked at me with happiness flying in his eyes. I stood on my tippy toes to give him a kiss and kinda failed miserably.
"You've gotten a bit big Meera" Raj laughed and I his chest as the ocean of family started flooding the backyard. We walked to the special seats for us under the gazebo and the smile on my face wasn't leaving.
"Two days!" Raj whispered excitedly in my ear.
"Can we at least get engaged first?" I laughed and he shrugged his shoulders laughing a bit. Then the moment I have been waiting for had finally come. I was getting engaged to Raj. He placed the ring on my finger and our families clapped, I took the ring from the small blue velvet box and smiled before sliding the ring on his finger. He leaned closer to me and motioned me to come close to him.
"Believe it or not Meera, but we are engaged" he whispered. I laughed and we stood up smiling at all of our family.
"I love you" Raj smiled looking at me with so much love in his eyes.
"I love you more" I smiled and kissed him. Our little world was perfect. A baby soon and marriage in two days. What more could I ask for in this crazy love story? Everything is finally and will forever be... Perfect.
