A wave of motion passed over the group as the music swayed, slow and steady. Hinata dragged a foot behind him, whilst he stretched his arms in the air, matching the rest of the dancers. They spun and tiptoed until the music finished, all of them gently panting with effort.
"Nice work on the group piece, everyone." Coach Ukai told us. He hadn't shown up on the first day, deeming there was no point in him showing up for the 'meet and greet'.
"Tanaka, watch your timing. Nishinoya, you're really gonna have to get on your toes, or we'll have to change the formation." Nishinoya grumbled angrily, as he normally did when his height affected his dancing.
"Oh, and Hinata, watch your feet." He rushed off, probably to check the new choreography.Self-loathing filled Hinata. He made his feet go over and over the steps, like a broken record, willing them to absorb the pattern.
"What are you doing?" A voice interrupted him. But, when Hinata found the source of it, the look he received was terrifying. Kageyama was looking down at him with confusion and disgust.
"Practicing. What does it look like?" Hinata snapped back.
"Well, it looks like you're doing it wrong." He sounded annoyed, however Hinata couldn't understand why he was so irritated.
"What do you mean? How am I doing it wrong?" Stepping forward, Hinata copied Kageyama's strange glare. Gentle conversations from around the room broke off as people started to notice their dispute.
"You're closing your eyes," Kageyama said as if it was obvious. But it wasn't. Hinata stared back in new found confusion and searched his memory. Many of his past performances seemed blurry and hard to remember, but he always thought that was caused by the blinding stage lights and the crawling abyss of black that was the audience. He didn't really close his eyes, did he...? No one had noticed before or at least told him, however, it couldn't be that simple of an answer to why he couldn't pick choreography up easily. Could it?
"So, I close my eyes whilst dancing? It doesn't matter." Hinata turned away, supposedly ending the conversation. Kageyama didn't stop though.
"It does matter. It weakens your balance and makes you disorientated. Try opening your eyes and maybe you'll actually be able to dance, dumbass." The fire in his voice was surprising for the argument they were having. Hinata spun back, stumbling with the sharp velocity, but Kageyama had stormed to the other side of the room, taking the sparks between them with him.Soft fingers curling around Hinata's shoulder snapped him out of his glare.
"Sugawara-san?" Hinata asked the angelic boy.
"Call me Suga," he said, a smile curling onto his pale lips. "Are you okay? What happened?"
"I was just over here practicing when Kageyama stomped over and told me I was dancing wrong! So, I told him that I dance just fine, thank you very much! But then he said I dance with my eyes closed! And that I couldn't dance at all!" Hinata ranted, glaring into the back of Kageyama's head. To Hinata's surprise, Suga laughed.
"Kageyama does have a point, though." Suga cut him off before he could argue. "Come with me to a private studio?"---
