Why did he look so upset? Kageyama glared at the small carton of milk in his hands. He was only trying to help Hinata, why did he react so badly to his advice? Had Kageyama said something wrong? Kageyama couldn't tell.

But he could tell that people were glancing at him oddly. It was probably because of the intensity of his stare. Or the way he was hunched over his desk. Or because he hadn't uttered a word to anyone in the room. Especially after the Hinata incident, he'd lost all confidence to speak to people. Kageyama felt like the little thread in him that pulled him towards people, the little part of him that suggested a conversation, had snapped. It would come back, just like after Oikawa-san, and after his team left him. Slightly different, though, a different colour or thickness. Kageyama didn't really understand it, and he didn't think anyone else would.

However, he couldn't shake the feeling that the stares were caused by the fact that it was just him. His shoulders connected with his ears as he tried to sink into the desk, but a small voice made them jump apart in shock.
"U-uh y-you're kogeyama, right?" The tiny girl shook with unnecessary fear. Kageyama was confused and put out at the same time. He didn't like the fact that she was scared of him. Before, he didn't think there was anything scary about him. I guess I was wrong, he thought.

"Kageyama? Yeah." He looked up at the girl with deep creases around her eyes from opening them so wide and so often, with daffodil yellow hair pulled into grip, and with a nose made to look miniscule with her apple-sized pupils. Which, somehow, managed to grow to the size of melons at his words. Her mouth opened, then closed, and she fell forward, blubbering with sorrys. "I'm s-so sorry! I didn't m-mean to get your name wrong! Please forgive me!"

"It's okay... don't worry," kageyama said, not knowing how to react to the loud girl. No, loud didn't fit. She was just... big, even though she was tiny.
Her head bobbed up again and she sighed, looking extremely relieved.
And then, they were silent.
"So, why are you here?" Kageyama asked when she didn't leave.
"Oh, we're both on the dance team and I thought that we could eat lunch together and..." She trailed off, looking at her intertwined hands.
"U-uh, yeah, okay."

"You stammered." She said, eyes bright with alarm.
"What?"
"You stammered. That means you're unsure. Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry for making you uncomfortable, I'll go." She rambled on, backing away.
"Wait, no... You can sit... with me." Kageyama said, not really sure how to phrase it. He looked down at the destroyed carton in his hands. He didn't realize how tight his grip had been, but he wasn't used to such dramatic introductions, so he wasn't surprised. The straw had whitened with pressure and the whole thing was slightly damp, probably from his clammy hands.

"You sure?" She said, chewing the inside of her cheek.
"Yeah," kageyama told her, still looking at the straw. He brought his eyebrows together in confusion, he didn't know why he was sure. Finally, he looked up at Her and was shocked to see her beaming. Horrible screaches filled the classroom as she pulled a chair over and she blanched at the sound. As quickly as possible, she placed herself in the chair and grabbed her lunch from what seemed like nowhere.

"I know dancers are meant to be graceful, but I'm far from it." She chuckled, opening up her food. The corners of kageyama's lips tugged and he was once again startled at the fact he was smiling.
"So... What's your name?" Kageyama asked.
"Oh," she laughed again, "I'm Yachi."
