After getting some rest, I headed east towards Mount Moon. My next goal was Gym Leader Misty of Cerulean City. She's known for her quick and agile water-types, so my Ivysaur shouldn't have any problem with her. The only threat in my way were the many trainers standing along the route to the cave. They continually train their bug and flying-type pokemon in a hopeless effort to beat Brock. Maybe when they learn that those types arn't effective against rock-type pokemon, they'll have some chance. I'll just mow them down until I reach my destination. Maybe give my Pidgeotto some training.

I finally made my way out of that dark, dingy forest! As much as I hate bugs, I found this awsome Caterpie there, and I had to catch it. Squirtle was poisioned along the way, so I relied on that Caterpie to lead me towards Pewter City. Along the way, it evolved into a Metapod, and eventually a Butterfree! My pokedex told me that its base power went from 195, to 205, to 385! It's stronger than Squirtle! Too bad it won't do me any good against Brock. Being half bug and half flying, Butterfree is the worst possible choice against a rock-type. Hopefully Squirtle will pull through for me, being that he has the type advantage. I wonder what current team pokemon he'll use against me. I hear that he has a super fast and powerful Aerodactyl with a base power of 515, and a pseudo-legend Tyranitar with a base power of 600! I saw Hiroshi heading towards Cerulean Cave, and I was going to ask him about his battle with Brock, assuming that he did battle him, but I was to worn out from Viridian Forest. I went straight to the Pokemon Center and took a nice, long nap.

Who knew that there was a Pokemon Center right outside of Mt. Moon? There, I bought a Magikarp from this old man for $50. He laughed as if he ripped me off for a little bit of spending money, but I knew that if raised properly, this can become one of the strongest non-legendary pokemon in the world. As I took my first step inside the cave, I was met by a young lady who challenged me with her Clefairy. My pokedex told me that it was fairly weak at a base power of 323. My Pidgeotto made quick work of it. As she ran out crying, I noticed how large the cave was. More importantly, I noticed many men and women wearing these black shirts and black jeans or sweatpants. They had a white stripe down the sides, and on the shirt was a large, red "R". These people also wore a black hat with another red "R" on the front. I had no idea who they were, or what they were doing. They could be a group just exploring the cave. They could also be a gang of criminals. Crime was on the rise. People's items, money, and even their pokemon were being stolen by theives. Some theives even group together to cause more trouble. I took it upon myself to just stay clear of these guys and mind my own buisness. As long as you wern't being nosey, your stuff wouldn't be missing. I took out my flashlight that I had packed and continued through the cave.

Well, my battle with Brock was fun, but not really challenging. My Squirtle was way faster than Geodude and Onix, and its water gun took them out with one hit. Brock then sent out this huge pokemon called Rhyperior. Its apparently an evolution of the already strong Rhydon, with a base power of 535. As scary as it was, it was really slow, so Squirtle ran circles around it. Rhyperior also had huge defense, but poor special defense, and combined with an ultra weakness to water-type moves due to being both rock and ground-type, Squirtle made short work of it. The goal is to prove not that your pokemon can battle something way more powerful that it, but to prove that the trainer can adapt to a tough fight and hold their ground. I KO'd his Rhyperior! The expression on Brock's face was so hilarious that I had to take a picture. You could even see his pupils (being that his eyes are always closed)! Squirtle also evolved into Wartortle, boosting its base power to 405! After getting my badge, my pokemon wern't even tired, so we headed towards Mt. Moon. On the way, I met trainers that I had already battled in Viridian Forest. They were so much easier! My pokemon were getting stronger! I also happened to catch a male Nidoran with a base power of 273, and a Spearow with a base power of 262! Now my pokemon were worn out, and I felt the same way. We rested at the Pokemon Center and decided on setting out in a couple of hours. Oh, I almost forgot! Before I left Pewter City, I took a visit to the museum. It was really boring. While I was there, a scientist approched me with this ball of amber. He wanted me to have it, saying that it holds a very powerful pokemon within that he can't extract, but I may get the chance to. I didn't understand, but I took it anyways! A free pokemon is a free pokemon! Now I just need to extract it. . .
