Brice's pov

I shuffled nervously as Seto stared at me.

"I called the police this morning." I admitted. Seto looked shocked.

"Y-You what?!" He cried.

"Seto! Calm down! He's in jail now, so he'll never be able to hurt you." I said. Seto looked up at me with fearful eyes.

"You... promise...?" He asked in a small voice. I smiled softly and pulled him into a hug.

"I promise."

Time skip

One week later, we were going to court. Seto was scared, but I reassured him that we won't lose. My parents were very influential and had decided to help us. They were even letting Seto live at our house.

I reached over and straightened his tie for him.

"We'd better go." I said. We climbed into the car and drove to the court house. Once we got there, many people were waiting outside. I grabbed Seto's hand and led him inside, where the media wasn't allowed. Seto's dad was sitting beside his lawyer, in an orange jumpsuit.

As soon as he saw Seto, he scowled harshly and Seto shrunk away. I grabbed his shoulder and pulled him close. Just to let him know that he wasn't there alone.

We took our seats and court began. We argued back and forth, using as much evidence as possible. Seto retold the stories about how and when his father went abusive. He explained that his father turned abusive after his mother died when he was six. He never fed Seto or gave him any money.

Seto was also treated like a slave. He had to clean the house, somehow find enough money to feed his dad and was abused harshly. Seto explained how he had often thought of suicide, but knew his mom wouldn't want that. He then went on to explain that his father was a runaway.

They had recently moved here, because people were suspecting that Seto's dad had been abusing him. Seto had to scavenge for food and begged on the streets for money. He hadn't been allowed to go to school for two years after his mother died.

Seto even went as far as to show the court all his bruises and scars that he had gained over the years. Evidence was just stacking up, Seto's dad never stood a chance. The judge ruled Charles Spells guilty and given prison for life, considering how harshly he had treated Seto.

I smiled brightly at Seto and pulled him into a hug.

"You're free Seto!!!! You never have to see your dad again!" I said, spinning him around. Seto hugged me back just as tightly.

"Thank you Brice, thank you so much!!!!" He cried.
