"Emily come here, I need to talk to you." Alison was sitting on the couch when her younger sister stumbled into the room. The younger girl looked at her big sister and nervously asked "Did I do something wrong?"
Alison laughed softly and shook her head while patting the spot on the couch next to her. "No, everything is alright, I just need to talk to you about something."
Life wasn't always easy for sixteen year old Alison and her little sister who was roughly three years younger than her. Their parents were barely at home which basically made Alison more of a mother to Emily than her own mother had ever been to her. Of course that also meant that she somehow had to give her little sister "the talk". Alison wasn't entirely sure if now was the right time or if Emily was still to young for it, but then she told herself that it was better to go into it informed and that sometimes sooner really was better than later.
She herself had learned most stuff through school, friends and the internet because her parents surely hadn't been much of a helping hand in that situation (or any situation at all...).
Emily was looking at Alison nervously, waiting for her sister to say something. She still felt like she did something wrong and was thinking really hard about what it might've been. "Okay, as you know you're slowly growing up, right?" Alison asked hoping that she sounded more confident about this than she actually was. Emily slowly nodded and said "Yeah I guess that's a thing people do sometimes." Alison laughed quietly and nodded. "You also know that while you're growing up your body slowly changes and that there comes a time where you will start to have interests... different from sports and stuff..."
Alison looked at Emily who was already blushing. "So there might be one point in the near future where you'll start to like a guy, maybe from your class or your year." Emily was shifting on her spot on the couch her face now clearly red. "Ali, I don't think that I want to talk about this." Alison looked at her younger sister and smiled softly while she put her hand onto Emily's knee. "Come on Em, we have to at some point and the sooner it's over, the better, right?" She winked at her sister who nodded hesitantly.
"So, I kind of need to ask you this, don't be nervous it is only a question. Is there a boy that you like?" Maybe this wasn't the right way to approach things, Alison thought, but how would she know what was the right way. Emily promptly blushed and shook her head violently stuttering some variants of "No, I don't", "of course not", "there's no one" making Alison smile even more.
It was kind of cute how nervous Emily was about all of this, but she really wanted to make this comfortable for her sister, awkwardness wasn't Alison's goal although she had expected the whole thing to be incredibly awkward and tense. "Em calm down, it's okay. Like I said, just a question."
Emily seemed to relax a little bit after that. Alison continued to talk slowly she was also getting more nervous but she knew that she couldn't show that in front of Emily since it would only make the girl more nervous and shy about the whole thing. "Fine let us just assume that you find a boy that you like at some point in the future. After finding out that he eventually likes you back..." "What if he doesn't like me back?" Emily threw in a question Alison hadn't expected. "Uhhh... then you'll probably be sad for a little while and feel disappointed about the situation but I will be there for you and you will get over it and then find the guy who is just perfect for you." Emily nodded, looking down at her fingers. "Anyways, you'll find a cute boy at some point and things might get a little bit more serious between the two of you."
Emily looked up, a blush already creeping up on her cheeks again. "You mean like... kissing and stuff like that?" Alison laughed softly and nodded. "Yes stuff like that. However at some point in your relationship it won't be just kissing. Do you know how babies are made?" Emily looked down again before slowly nodding. "Yes, we talked about that in Biology a few weeks ago." Alison breathed out, at least something to work with.
"Okay, good. Since I'm assuming that you don't want a baby at this point of time you and because it's important to avoid getting some diseases that could be transmitted during sexual intercourse..." a giggle from Emily's side followed but Alison continued "it is really necessary to use protection. To avoid a possible pregnancy you can take the pill that'll prevent you from getting pregnant but the only way to protect yourself from eventual diseases is using a condom. In case that your boyfriend isn't carrying around any with him I would say you should always have a few at hand."
Emily was back to uncomfortably shifting on her seat, she was obviously not really happy about their current topic and being a naturally shy girl it was even more awkward even though it was only her older sister who was talking to her. "Hey relax. This is important, I want you to be informed about all of this because it'll play an important role in your future, we can do something fun afterwards I promise." Alison smiled at Emily who awkwardly smiled back and then nodded.
"Alright, where were we? There are a few things you should know about the condoms, it is important to find the right size. They must fit your boyfriend's penis because otherwise it might not hold, it can't be too big or too small, but finding the right size is his task, you should just make sure that he uses one. Also make sure that they are still useable because if they are to old they might crack." Alison was genuinely hoping that it would be over soon the whole thing was so awkward and she seriously wondered how on earth Biology teachers were presenting stuff like this in front of twenty or more teenagers without going into cardiac arrest. "So after you found the right condoms and talked to your doctor about taking the pill it'll be time for your first time. You'll probably share a few kisses and then slowly start to undress each other and then you'll probably try a few things out with touching each other, whatever feels good for you."
Emily's face was bright red again and this was so not awkward at all. Alison mentally cursed her parents for never being there and for leaving her to do this thing on her own. It was not like she had that much experience either, maybe she should've bought a detailed book for Emily, it probably would've been less embarrassing.
Alison took a deep breath and continued "after touching each other for a while your boyfriend is probably going to enter you slowly. When you're doing this for the first time it might hurt a little bit, but after that it will feel really good. Just go slow in the beginning to get used to it after that you can find your own rhythm, whatever feels good to you, I guess." Emily is staring at her wide eyed. "Will it hurt badly?" Alison shook her head "No, it will just be for a very short moment, you don't have to be afraid of it."
Emily nodded hesitantly and Alison asked silently "Are there questions you want to ask? Something I can help you with?" Emily shook her head and then said "Thank you for talking about this with me, can I go into my room now?" Alison nodded and gave Emily a kiss on the forehead before she stood up herself. "Oh and Alison?" Alison turned around once more, throwing a questioning look into her sister's direction. "What if I don't want a boyfriend?"
