Dreams

This party was a stupid idea and Emily knew it from the beginning, but Hanna refused to go without her and whined about it the whole day, so Emily finally gave in and now they were here, at Noel Kahns party, well, Emily was there, she didn’t knew where Hanna was though, probably somewhere with Caleb, Aria was out of town with Ezra over the whole weekend and Spencer was at home with Toby, because she felt sick, so Emily was completely on her own and there was this annoying guy who wanted to dance with her, but she didn’t wanted to dance, well, at least not with a guy.

She looked around the room, trying to find Hanna, instead she spotted another blonde who was way too familiar. “Fuck, I should’ve known that she’d be here.” Emily whispered to herself, while she slowly made her way trough the people on the dancing floor, over to the bar where Alison was standing, sipping on a cocktail.

Emily had to admit that Alison looked breathtakingly beautiful, the short black dress with light blue accents really suited her well and she knew that she needed to get to Ali fast, because she wanted to be with her and something inside her told her, that maybe Alison really has changed, not just her character, also her feelings or at least that maybe now she was able to admit them. “You’re looking for someone?” Emily asked when she was a few steps away from the blonde.

Alison whirled around and stared at her for a second, before she said something “Maybe, maybe not, do you want to find out?” She winked at her and her eyes sparkled and Emily thought that maybe this was her chance, if she would take this chance, maybe they could be together at some point in the future, because Alison clearly looked like she was up to it. “You wanna dance?” Alison asked and offered her hand to Emily, who smiled and took the hand. “Yeah, I think I’d like it.” “I could tell.” Alison smirked and pulled Emily a little bit closer to her.

They danced to the music for a while, when the music suddenly got slower and Alison smiled at Emily, which caused Emily’s heart to jump a little quicker. “Move a step closer.” Alison said softly and laid her arm around Emily’s hip, while pulling her into her.

Emily shut her eyes, smelling the scent of Alison’s perfume and she thought that this was, what heaven has to be like. “You look beautiful today.” Alison whispered and Emily looked at her, because she wasn’t sure if Alison meant what she said, but the way she looked at her told her that Alison was indeed telling the truth and Emily blushed, before she said “You look beautiful too, you always do.” Now it seemed like Alison was the one to blush, or was it just Emily’s imagination? Whatever it was between them, right now there was no place in the world where Emily would rather be, this was where she was supposed to be, right here in Alison’s arms and they both knew it, they just had to admit it, maybe she would do later that night, because now they were in this people filled room and this probably wasn’t the best place to talk about their feeling, but Emily knew that she had to say it out loud, had to prove that it was real and she needed Alison to say, that she felt in the same way, that she never wanted to play with her feelings in the first place, that she was just scared.

Emily never wanted to let go, she was still scared, that if she let go of the girl in her arms, everything would go back to how it was, that Alison would push her away again, but she couldn’t deny her feelings longer, they’ve been trough so much and even if this would destroy everything between them, she needed Alison to know, needed to know if she really felt the same way, or if she was just playing again, because this was her dream, her dream of a life with Alison and maybe her dream could come true, they just had to be honest to each other, but being honest was always their problem, more like Alison’s problem, but she needed the blonde to be honest with her and tonight seemed perfect, Emily didn’t thought about what might be the next day, she just wanted to life today, wasn’t wasting her time by making plans for the next day, because if Alison’s disappearance told her one thing, then it was that life is unpredictable and they had tonight to figure everything out, she could worry about the consequences tomorrow.

"Em, you’re still in there?" Emily snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Alison confused, before she stuttered "Ehm, sorry, what?" Alison let out a soft laugh and repeated her question "I asked, if you want a drink?" "Uhm, yeah, sure, why not." Emily smiled at her and Alison took her hand to get the two of them trough the people and back to the bar.

When they finally arrived there, a guy was standing there, sipping on his drink and looking at Alison, like he wanted more from her, alone the thought made Emily extremely jealous and she didn’t even had the right to, because even if she wanted it, there wasn’t anything between Alison and her, well, maybe it was, but they hadn’t talked about it yet, so they had nothing going on officially, but the thought of any guy touching Alison made Emily feel sick. „I’ll be right back, ok?” She asked, while Ali looked at her confused but nodded.

Emily made her way to the bathroom and threw some cold water into her face before she leaned against the wall to calm down a little bit. She really needed to talk to Alison, she had to say something before it was too late, Alison had to feel that there was more than friendship between them, she saw how Ali looked at her sometimes and it was the same way Emily has always looked at her, but if she would remain silent she got the risk that Alison would find somebody new, probably a guy, since she had always been straight, at least that was what she told Emily in the locker room and suddenly Emily wasn’t so sure if Ali felt the same way anymore, maybe she was wrong and Alison was just friendly and didn’t wanted to hurt her again.

Emily didn’t hear the opening of the bathroom door and flinched when the door shut, because she really was somewhere else with her thoughts. “Sorry, I didn’t meant to scare you.” Alison said and moved a little bit closer to her, looking worried. “Are you okay?” Emily slowly nodded, even if she wasn’t sure that she was okay. “Yeah, just a little bit tired, I guess.” “Do you want me to take you home?” Alison asked and Emily looked at her surprised. “But the party, I can’t make you leave the party, you can stay if you want, I can walk on my own, if you want to stay.” Emily was suddenly really nervous, she didn’t wanted to force Alison into something, but the quiet laugh that Alison let out proved her wrong. “Em, relax, I offered to take you home, I wouldn’t do that if I didn’t wanted to. And I would rather walk you home than stay here alone anyway, so if you don’t mind we can leave now.”

Emily was still a little bit uncertain, but she had to say yes, she wanted to talk to Ali about her feelings and if they would part ways now, she might never get the chance to talk. “Okay,if you really want to.” Emily finally gave in and Alison took her hand again and it felt so right when they made their way trough the house, out into the cold night air.
They walked for a while, it was completely silent, but not in an awkward way, it was a good kind of silence, their hands were still intertwined and Emily thought that this might be her chance to tell Alison. “Ali?” She asked quietly and Alison looked into her direction “Yeah?” “Could… Can we… talk?” Emily asked and she felt really uncertain in this moment, because what if this wasn’t a good idea? Alison sighed silently before she nodded. “I guess we have to at some point. You first.” “I still love you.” Emily says before she can even think about it, the words just tumbling out of her mouth and they both looked shocked at each other. “You… You do?” Alison finally manages to say something and Emily slowly nods, before she speaks again “Look Ali, I’m sorry, I know this probably isn’t good for us, but I can’t change the way I feel, I’m tired of having to hide it or trying to push my feelings away, because it’ll only make things worse and I really tried to forget you, but I can’t and maybe it’s best for us, if…” Emily is interrupted by Alison’s words “Stop, Em, it’s okay, don’t worry, it’s just… I thought that you were over me and if I’m honest it scared me to imagine you being with someone else, because…” Alison looks to the ground for a few seconds, before she looks up into Emily’s brown eyes that are staring right into her blue ones “Because I love you too, like really love you, like being in love with you and I know that it’s hard to believe after everything I put you trough, but if you really still feel the same, maybe we could try and figure out, if this works?” Emily is smiling bright at this moment, this is everything she ever dreamed of, Alison loves her to, they can be together, of course they have a lot of talking to do, but eventually they’re going to be okay, more than okay and finally she can say what she feels out loud, at least to Alison, because they still need to discuss a few things before they make it official, but for now it’s more than enough and she couldn’t care less about them being on the street in the cold november weather, being out in public, she has to do it, so she closes the short distance between them, wraps her arms around Alison and kisses her, because that’s what she wants, this is her dream finally becoming true.
