"I think Malia might have died."

Lydia trembled as she walked straight past Scott and into his house.

She didn't cry, she just stared ahead in shock.

"What do you mean?" Scott tried to remain calm but Lydia's state had unnerved him.

"Aiden..." She whispered, her voice cutting through the air. "He hurt her."

"How? Lydia, talk to me," Scott pushed for answers.

"I-I don't know..." Lydia did know, she had been there, but she didn't want to think about it; never mind explain it.

"Well, what's happening now?" Scott asked, deciding he wasn't going to get much out of Lydia.

"She went to the hospital" Lydia said. "And we're going too."

"It's almost four in the morning," Scott said.

"So what, Scott?! Malia is our friend and I don't even know if she's alive right now," Lydia shrieked.

"Okay... Point taken," Scott shushed Lydia and took the keys to her car, as she was in no fit state to drive.

They arrived at the hospital and sprinted in the direction they were pointed in for Malia's ward.

Scott had expected to see Stiles but when they arrived, there was nobody there.

"This can't be the right place... Stiles would be here, I know it," Scott went to turn around but Lydia pulled him back.

"Remember, he's probably at home with Mackenzie. He wouldn't want to bring her here," Lydia said.

Scott nodded and walked forward, trying to find Malia's room.

They found the room at the end of the corridor, with two nurses monitoring her from outside and one inside.

"She must be in a critical condition" Lydia whispered.

"I'm sorry, but you can't go in there right now." One of the nurses stopped them.

"Please, she's our friend..." Lydia tried not to cry at the sight of Malia tied up to so many wires and tubes.

"We aren't even letting family in to see her," the other nurse piped up.

"She doesn't have any family! C'mon this could be the last time we ever see her," Scott was desperate.

"No, I'm sorry. You can't go in," the first nurse had turned impatient. "I said no. You can stay in the waiting room if you must but we don't know when you'll be able to come in."

Lydia and Scott turned away, defeated.

"She doesn't know I could help her heal" Scott muttered. "And it's not like I could explain that."

"We just have to sit here. At least we're here when she wakes up," Lydia said.

"But Stiles isn't, that's who she'll want to see" Scott was growing even more frustrated.

"He'll be here in the morning, I guarantee."

As soon as their conversation had finished, Malia's heart monitor started beeping, fast.

Her two friends leapt off their seats and pressed their faces against the window as they watched nurses inject her with medicine, and try to get her heart rate back to normal.

Malia's chest expanded and she jumped up, her eyes opened. Her head soon fell back against the pillow and she was unconscious again.

"Are you Scott?" An out of breath nurse ran out of the room.
