They're winning, but Calum still looks unhappy. He kicks goal after goal, but flinches at all of the gratitude he gets. He doesn't care that they're winning, because Michael's not watching. Last time he looked, he saw Michael talking to Chase.
He can't bring himself to look at him again, and continues to play. There's only a few minutes left to go, and he kicks it to Johnson, who gets the ball with ease. Calum continues to run down, because he knows Johnson will get stuck soon. Johnson fakes taking a shot, and kicks it to Calum.
Calum scores the goal, and the whistle blows. Game over. He thinks to himself, wincing at the pats on his back that he's getting. "Good on ya, Hood!" They all shout in his ears as they run past.
Grace walks over and kisses him. He leans down and deepens the kiss, wanting Michael to be hurt because he's hurting. He grabs her ass, and she moans into his mouth. Neither of them care about the disgusted looks they're getting from the parents.
She pulls back, out of breath. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye." Calum waves, heading off to the change-rooms.
He's pushing all of his soccer clothes into his bag when he hears his teammates yelling about a fight. Calum's head shoots up, afraid. "Who's fighting?"
"Chase and his friends are beating the living shit out of Irwin."
The Maori grows increasingly anxious, and rushes outside. There's a crowd, and everybody's cheering on the violence. He watches Chase throw another punch at Ashton, who's got blood pouring out of his nose and is slumped against the guys holding him back. He sees Michael on the ground, and finally loses his shit.
"Get the fuck out of here, Chase." He says, pushing his chest. "You don't want the principal to find out who really broke into the school, do you?"
Chase looks a little dumbfounded, but stands his ground. "You wouldn't dare."
Calum pushes him harder, causing him to lean against the outer change-room wall. Calum takes Chase's shirt into his fist. "You hurt any one of them again, and I'll personally break every bone in your entire fucking body."
"Come on, Calum, don't get into trouble." He hears Johnson's voice, the Jamaican pulling him back.
The Maori turns back to his friends, who both quite obviously need help. Johnson smiles, and picks up Ashton with ease. "Come on, Ashton, try to stay awake for me."
"Mhm." Ashton hums. "Thanks for carrying me."
Johnson grins, "No problem."
Calum picks up Michael, worried. Once he's put him in the back of his car, he slaps his face. Michael screws up his features, and Calum smiles. Johnson – who's busy keeping Ashton awake – tells Calum to call an ambulance. So, with the fear that Ashton might have something wrong with him, he dials triple oh.
The ambulance comes about five minutes later, and they only have the ambulance prepared for one person, because they know Michael's awake enough to lean against Calum for the ride. Johnson waves them off, telling Calum to update him on their safety.
Ashton's put in the stretcher, and they make him talk about all the necessary details, Calum filling in whenever he needs to.
"So, what were you doing?" The lady asks, trying to stop him bleeding from his nose.
