About a quarter of an hour later, we arrived. We stop in front of a tall building, not the tallest, but one of the highest in the area. It's a company building from a company called 'Russell and Sons'. I look at Heather and she answers my astonishment.
"It's just a cover. We hide in here. Nobody notices because it's like every other building in this area: a lot of people in suits get in and get out in a hurry with cell phones and suit cases. The civilians really think we're just a normal company and they don't ask any questions."
If you want to hide something, don't try to hide something. It's a perfect cover: in plain sight.
"Indeed, good thinking. Now, we have to hurry. Just keep in mind that everyone inside this building can understand you. Sign language is an essential part of the training program."
How nice! Is this heaven? They all laugh while they step inside through the big doors. I follow their example and I see a gigantic lobby with two magnificent stairs, turning towards each other and coming together at the second floor. I just have to stop and take it all in. Heather notices it rather quickly and turns around.
"Impressive, right? I remember coming in here for the first time... Just close your mouth." I didn't even notice it was open yet until she said it. I quickly close my mouth. Then, I follow Heather up the stairs. On top we take a right turn and walked into a computer lab. I see an uncountable amount of computers and screens. Everywhere you look, you can see dozens of screens. Heather just ignores most of them and walks towards one man who works here.
"Are there any changes in the mission?" She asks him.
"Nope. Everything's the same. You're still leading the mission." He answers.
"Okay." She concisely says while walking further, to the back of the big room. She knocks on the only door that's there and goes inside, without having permission. I just follow her, not knowing what else to do.
We enter some kind of office with one central computer where a nerdy-looking guy is swiftly typing on the keyboard and a few people are standing around him. Half of the group leaves when they see Heather and me entering. The nerd-guy stays, just like an older man and a much younger, quite handsome man. He can't be much older than me. He's browsing through a file and doesn't look up while we enter.
"Agent Green, welcome back." The older man greets Heather.
"Ryan, happy New Year." She greets him back and shakes his hand formally.
"To you too. How were the holidays?"
"Heart-warming, thank you." Then, the man, apparently Ryan, turns to me.
"And you must be Willow Green."
