It was a Friday night, and yet again another one of my brother, Oliver’s unknown guests nearly spilled their drink over my dress. Luckily enough for me, I managed to see this one coming, and quickly dodged it, pressing myself up to my friend to avoid the sloshing alcoholic beverage being carried around by an utterly wasted college boy.
“If you wanted to dance all you had to do was say.” My friend, Eva giggled, and I took a step back from her.
“Sorry, no I’m alright thanks. My heads banging but Ollie would be dead pissed if I left. I don’t know how much longer I can stand this awful music.” I rolled my eyes, downing what was left in my plastic cup and placing it on a sideboard, heading into the kitchen to fetch another cup, but filling it with tap water this time instead.
“I would give you some aspirin but I left my bag in your car, do you want me to go get it?” Eva asked, having followed me into the kitchen. Shaking my head and smiling lightly, I took two large gulps of the liquid to try and clear my headache and cool myself down.
“Good because that guy over there is really hot and I’m not sure I want to lose my viewing spot.” She laughed, biting her lip and looking past me again at someone. Slowly I turned around, not wanting to aggravate the ever growing pounding in my head.
As my eyes searched the many intoxicated bodies that were attempting to dance, they landed on a certain someone. I didn’t recognise this boy; then again I didn’t recognise many people in my brother’s house as they were all mainly his friends. Maybe he was just one of Ollie’s new friends, or a friend of a friend?
“C’mon, we should go over and dance near him; maybe he’ll try and pick one of us up!” Eva squealed like an excited child. I laughed, not wanting to join in on her plan, but found myself being dragged back out of the kitchen and into the other room where the new guy was.
As soon as I entered the room I could tell something was different. The people in here weren’t as loud as they were elsewhere in the house, and everyone seemed to be keeping clear of the new guy; everybody but a couple of my brother’s friends who I recognised.
I took this time to look at him more clearly. Eva had started dancing next to me to the beat of some god awful club song, and I subconsciously started dancing with her. My hips began to move to the music as my eyes stayed attached to his body – looking him up and down.
He was wearing all black, making him stand out from the crowd immediately. He adorned heavy black skinny jeans on his long, thin legs, and a loose fitting black shirt, which had the top few buttons missing, showing off his toned and tanned chest. Peeking out the top of his shirt was what looked like tattoo markings, but it was too dark to tell.
As my eyes moved up his body to look at his face, my eyes met his. My heart took a double beating, and I could feel my mouth getting dry. I was definitely ill. The boy’s bright green eyes pierced mine across the room, and I was suddenly conscious of my dancing. I looked down, cutting of my eye contact with him, suddenly finding my shoes much more interesting. After a few moments of smiling and laughing with Eva, I looked over at him again, and to my surprise there he was; still looking at me. I immediately felt my cheeks redden at the attention and automatically bit my lip, looking at him through my eyelashes which had been plastered with black mascara thanks to Eva.
