Rolling my eyes in disbelief I made sure I had my phone and purse before opening the car door.
"Where are you going now?" Harry asked, his large hand wrapping tightly around my wrist.
"I'm leaving, I don't need to sit here and listen to this again. I can't believe I was so stupid as to actually come out with you again." I said, mainly to myself. How could I have been so foolish?
"You're not going anywhere alone." Harry spoke lowly, and I turned to face him. His eyes immediately captured mine, and I felt inclined to stay. I mean, after all he had paid for me, and what good would it really do to walk out of a drive-in? Wait. Am I listening to myself? I had to get out of here. Now.
I felt like I was in quick sand, being increasingly pulled closer to Harry. As much as I wanted to get out of this mess, something told me I was already in too deep. Besides, I couldn't go back to Oliver's after Harry's somewhat convincing theory about him and Eva. I just wanted to go home. Home, home. With my parent's, and my goldfish, and my walk in wardrobe. I needed to go home and forget about this boy.
"Fine, take me back to Oliver's house." I countered, knowing full well he wanted me to stay here and take his verbal abuse.
"Why would I do that, sweetheart?" He cocked his head to the side, biting his lip. Damn.
"Because you clearly aren't going to tell me the secret, I don't see this," I motioned between him and I, "going anywhere, and I'm tired. Please, I'll do anything - within reason - for you to just leave me alone."
"Anything eh?" Harry winked, but I saw something in his eyes as soon as I said that. As much as he had put me down, and made me feeling bad, the last thing I wanted to do was to make him feel the same way I had felt. But something told me he already had.
"Fine, I'll fucking take you home." Without another word Harry leaned back, shutting the boombox off and started the engine, pulling out of our space and toward the exit.
I silently sighed, not expecting my plea to be taken so quickly.
"I can take you to your parent's house you know, I'm guessing you're staying there tonight?" Harry offered, surprising me by not showing his raging temper.
"Oh no it's fine, I need to collect my stuff from Ollie's and my parent's want to see him." I replied smiling at him, although this was not returned.
I couldn't have Harry know where I live anyway. He'd already broken down one family member's front door, the last thing I needed him doing was destroying another one.
Slowing down he pulled up on the curb outside Oliver's.
"Thanks Harry, the drive-in was a nice idea." I complimented, not sure how to end this.
Not helping me at all, Harry simply nodded at my words before looking over at me.
"Am I really that bad to be around? I thought at first it was purely because you were annoyed I wouldn't tell you this fucking secret, but it turns out you just really do hate me."
"Harry, I don't hate you." I said, honestly.
"Whatever, I seriously couldn't give less of a shit about your opinion. Just get out Layla." He spat, and my mouth dropped open. If I had a list of all the times Harry had made me feel like absolute crap this would be right at the top.
Not having anything more to say to him, not final last words, I jumped out the car and slammed the door behind me as I marched up to my brother's front door, knocking on it incessantly.
Upon hearing tyre's skidding I turned and saw Harry's car flash down the street, surely breaking the speed limit.
"You're back early, I thought you'd be out for longer." Oliver commented, opening the door, but not standing aside to let me in.
"Whatever, can you just take me home already?" I asked.
"Sure, I already put your stuff my car." I nodded and climbed in the passenger seat.
"I'll come and get my car at lunch tomorrow if that's ok? I just don't feel like driving right now."
"No problem. So what's he done this time to bring you down?" Oliver queried, setting off for home.
"The usual." I commented.
"The usual? Layla, you've known him for a day! Doesn't that say something if he's already shown his 'usual' behaviour more than once?"
"I guess. Look I don't really want to talk about it right now. I just have a lot of stuff to think about."
"Alright then, but if you ever want to talk to someone you can always talk to me. Or Eva, I'm sure she'd be more than willing to give you reliable, friendly advice." Ollie smiled, and I immediately thought back to what Harry said about then sleeping together.
'You can just tell by being around them both at the same time that they are.'
Reclining back on the leather seat, I closed my eyes. I guess I would just have to play detective another time. Looking forward to my long night's sleep, I was completely oblivious to any potential awakenings.
