When Chase woke up the next day, he stretched his back and let his fur bristle then flatten. He looked around then noticed Kari walking around. He shook as if he was covered in water, his behind shaking a bit longer and his tail a bit faster, then changed into his usual form. The dragon trotted up to the girl and cooed happily. Kari looked at him.
"Mornin'." She greeted happily. Chase roared in a low tone, as if asking a question. "Why am I up early?" Kari asked then chuckled. "More like I didn't fall asleep." She informed while working on fixing up the warehouse to be a bit more like home. Chase began scolding the girl, upset that she did not sleep last night. Kari just chuckled and continued her work then left for school after changing her appearance to look like Ryuu Scarlet.
After school Kari went home with Chase then did her homework. After that she began working on making her new home feel more like a home while Chase slept. The next day after school Kari walked home with Kagome as usual, Kagome's friends had left by this point.
"Man, that history lecture was tough." Kagome stated. Kari nodded with a small groan.
"Yeh. They didn't talk about the feudal era too, which made it tougher cuz we live through that." Kagome nodded. Not long later Kari noticed a red dot on Kagome. The dot was jittering slightly. The girl sniffed as a bang sounded from a distant building. Everyone screamed and scattered. Kari's left arm became a blur as she caught the bullet before any harm could befall Kagome. The older girl jolted and began to freak out, but Kari grabbed her arm and began to calm Kagome down. "Don't worry. I got it." She showed the older girl the bullet and smiled. "We should hurry home though." Kagome nodded and the three rushed to Higurashi shrine.
The three soon arrived at the shrine and rushed in. Kari growled as she stared at the bullet in her palm. She then put it in her pocket and followed Kagome to the living room. The two sat and watched the news while Chase curled up in Kari's lap. The news was covering some kind of kidnapping then they got a breaking news report about a shooting. They had not caught the culprit nor have they even figured out who it was, but Kari knew. The girl stretched then turned off the TV and stood up Chase did the same.
"Where you headin'?" Kagome asked.
Kari grabbed her things. "Just gonna head out for a bit. I'll be back later. Promise." Kari gave Kagome a fake smile then left the shrine, telling Chase to stay behind.
Eventually the girl made her way to an old lot and walked towards a poorly built building. She stood in front of the door then kicked it down, tearing it off the hinges and sending it flying across the room. Everyone in that room froze and looked at the girl. They bickered and stared at the girl as she waltzed it, gritting her teeth.
"Alright!" She roared, rage steaming from her voice. "Where is he?!"
"So, you're back." A familiar voice called. It was Takeo. He approached the girl with narrowed eyes and a smirk. "Nice to see--"
"Shut up. I know you almost killed her." Kari cut off the older man.
"But I didn't. I don't know how I missed though. I aimed right at her side." He hummed as Kari smirked. The child snapped her fingers and a metal cage surrounded the building. Everyone stared at the girl in confusion then widened their eyes in shock as they heard a loud clang echo from outside. "What just--"
"Welcome to your worst nightmare, courtesy of yours truly." Kari stated in a cheerfully eerie tone then chuckled. "Please keep your eyes open at all times, if you blink you'll miss the fun." Kari chuckled again, a bit darker this time, as everything went black. Screeching sounds echoed then a scream called out in the distant void followed by a painful silent.
